How many views would bad bunny get if he/him/they was competing with the Super Bowl.

My guess, bout 350.

On the way home from a Super Bowl party last night my 14-year-old daughter asked me why so many adults get so worked up over who plays a 12 minute halftime show I just looked at her and said that that’s the smartest thing you’ve ever said. It’s pretty sad isn’t it?

It’s so sad that an alternative show has to be announced because snowflakes will snowflake. I hope Erika enjoyed spending all that money on lip syncing wash ups and trashy pyrotechnics.

I love how people keep inflating the turning point show but keep down playing the Super Bowl impact Name your price and I will bet you any amount of money that bad bunny’s streams goes up more than the three people I’ve never heard of and Kid Rock combined It’s hilarious grown men are trying to act like this is going to ruin the NFL and really put a dent in things. Like they just found some guy on the street to play halftime. And when you tell them he’s the most streamed artist in the world for the last six years, they just change the subject.

They always need something to hang their hats on.

I think "worked up" is fair

But I do think stuff like this is pretty interesting. The NFL consistently ignores and sometimes disparages the demos that built it. We can discuss why that is, but it's a very reasonable cultural conversation to have. One of the biggest brands/things in American culture at best saying "we already have you, now just shut up and watch while we expand in a way that 'marginalizes' you" is a pretty interesting topic to consider in where our culture is, where it's going, how capitalism may have turned on its' biggest proponents/defenders, etc.

I didn't watch either and don't really care, but that's a horrible comparison.

Top network prime time TV shows average 3-10 million viewers.

Any show getting 5 million opposite the Super Bowl is incredible numbers.

What exactly is the success of the alternative halftime show since it is not a flop? No one seems to be able to answer that. Having the same portion of people that weren't going to watch any way tune into watch kid rock doesn't really spell out some massive cultural win.

But music is obviously an issue. Even film is showing some signs of progress (Angel Studios, etc.). But we're stuck in neutral on the music front if you want anything other than really bad bro country.

Yes. In fairness, I think the biggest issue is less about who the right is willing to hire and more about who is willing to attach themselves to the right.

If the right was able to somehow get a widely popular artist to perform the alternate show, the numbers would skyrocket. At the end of the day, Bad Bunny can't be understood by most, so you naturally would have people switching over for that reason alone.

However, even many conservatives find bro country and Kid Rock incredibly corny and cringe. The right is stuck musically until artists are comfortable attaching themselves to them.

In what way does having a global pop star perform at a event that is broadcast globally "marginalize" anyone?
