Nope. I always try to park way out away from everyone else under a tree by a curb.

I do this with my jeep, except I always make sure to put one tire on the curb. Before I walk away I toss some of my rubber ducky friends on the ground. Non-jeep people will never understand.

I always back in when it's an option.

I also drive in the driving lane till I'm passing.

Parking in the back of the lot and hopping out is the best. Avoid all the soy boys and women maneuvering for a close spot so they don’t have to walk 20 more feet.

Usually I am stuck in the street, behind a long line of cars, while these people see someone exit the store, wait for them to get to their car, unload their groceries, and eventually leave, so they can get a spot close to the door.

I park far away, and pass the aforementioned family still getting out of the car, all 3.5 tons of them. I see them again in the store with a cartload of fruit loops, frosty flakes, pop tarts, and doritos.

Back in/back out, what’s the difference? Still have to back out either way.

It really depends on the vehicle and the purpose of why you are wherever you are, as to parking forwards or backwards.
You are correct though, in a busy parking lot, forward parkers generally waste more time overall when including the departure. Bitching about people backing in, then proceed to ignore that it takes them longer when backing out because they can't see shite.
All that said, if you can't back in worth a shite, don't. Minus the additional time it takes to travel past the spot, I can back my truck in just as fast as most people pull in forward, and won't require any correction like forward parking in a tight lot. Some lots are so tight that it is impossible to perfectly park going forward in a truck, without having to adjust.

It's easier to get a jump start if you need it when you back in.

People who back into the spot in a busy parking lot, i.e a ballfield, are the absolute worst

As long as you don’t back up so far the rear end blocks the sidewalk around the perimeter of the parking lot.

I've just done it out of habit. Had to back into a space for my driver's license test and did so when I had deliveries and pick-ups when I was in high school and college.

In my recent trip to the UK/Ireland, I noticed a lot of people backed into their spots. Way more than here.

I have a friend who calls that "blacking in" and it cracks me up. Black folks really do love to do it more than most.

Same!

Shade and one side of the car protected from door dings. I like to walk far in most parking situations, assuming it isn't 110 degrees outside.

Yeah, there’s literally zero reason to do it and you look like an overcompensating loser when you do.

Zero reason? My car only has a frunk. Why wouldn't I back in? Otherwise, it makes it much more difficult to get groceries, bags, etc. in the car.

My company requires everyone to back into parking spaces. It is safer.

Depends completely on the design of the parking lot
