Because they depend on that revenue, and they are incentivized to exploit ways to get it. Keeping the roads safe is just an excuse.

Inspections stickers? Same bullshite. It’s only ever about money, always is.

Yeah I've never understood how someone can get caught on the causeway. You know exactly where the crossovers and emergency shoulders are. Police can't be anywhere else, yet people still get busted

Why do cops enforce murder laws for killing criminals?

They haven't, don't, and won't

Or, hide their marked cars behind signs, buildings, and shrubs to run radar / laser and pull people over?

because the quotas enforced by the department (not for money) but for proof we are working. It is easier to hide and get the speeder. It is easier to wait around a corner and get the speeder.

I was a cop

Or just leave the question at

Why do cops use unmarked cars?

A visible police presence should deter crime and, as others brought up, make things safer for the community. Unmarked cars bring an element of unnecessary danger into the safety equation.

I saw an unmarked car working the notorious speed trap/money grab area on I-49 around Washington last weekend, four separate cops had people pulled over on both sides of the interstate, three marked, and the one unmarked, can't say 100% he was issuing a speeding ticket but I'd be willing to bet a good sum of $ that he was

When “enforcing laws” can specifically be tied to revenue collection, we have a problem.

Sir this is the OT. We only care about enforcement of the laws we don't break. The ones we do break should not be enforced. /s The culture most present in the OT is no different than other cultures the OT loves to hate on. They justify the laws they break because it's ok and infringes upon their rights. There are levels, but knowingly breaking the law and justifying it is the same mindset that the OT loves to hate.

Which is why we should significantly, and I mean significantly, reduce the number of laws we have on the books. We have made a criminal out of every single citizen in this country, which means everyone justifies their criminal behavior, big or small. That’s a fricking problem from a societal norm perspective.

Eufala AL had a marked car permanently parked where 431 merges down into the downtown area, it was effective at getting people to hit the brakes before hauling arse into the downtown area. There wasn't even a cop in the car.

I don't disagree. Just pointing out the OT is quite fond of diminishing cultures and factions because of the laws they choose to justify. Remove the speck blinding your sight before removing the sawdust from another's eye and whatnot.

Well that’s not true as I’ve gotten a ticket for going 6 over. Dicks

Because getting a ticket in a particular area shapes future behavior in that area. I know certain towns where I monitor my speed closely.

Apparently you only drive "safely" if you can see that you are being watched.
I see posts on here every day showing how people can't act right. It sounds like you are one of them.

Because speeding tickets - more specifically speed traps as you describe- are nothing more than hidden taxes on the local population

It depends on where. In Houston, I haven't seen an unmarked car doing traffic enforcement. In North Dallas, they're all over the place.
