I understand NBC= Fake News to some, but the article explains some of the recent changes to the 1033 Program. There was a movement after Ferguson, MO to place restrictions on what can be purchased, requirements to explicitly stated why LEAs needed to purchase military surplus, and explain how the offers would be trained to use the equipment. Almost all of the restrictions were lifted in 2017.

This needs to stop. Police officers are not military. They shouldn’t be trained and organized as such. I already have an issue with the militarization of rank within the police force
