If they want a pension, go work for the state. The pension ship sailed for everyone else decades ago.

They will get it.

A UAW plant I work with struck last year and even after being offered some major incentives, they didn’t go back to work until they got a 35% raise.

My Toyotas are both old, but I'll bet on Toyota over Chevy, Ford, or Dodge.

Someone help me understand who these people are. Are they skilled workers? Do they have a specialized training or any formal education for doing what they do or are they valuable simply because of their experience with the machines? Help me understand what would keep a random Joe from picking up their job and running?

Heard they want real pensions back too.

That can’t happen. It would set a precedent for everyone to ask for pensions.

Pensions went away for a reason. Companies phased them out over years. They aren’t giving up that nut.

Ah, good. A poster that can't even read the five previous comments in the thread before posting. I welcome the immense value you're going to contribute to this discussion.

Obviously a certain political party has brainwashed you into thinking that being overworked and being underpaid is “normal”, and that unions are evil… And we wonder why mental health in this country has gone to shite .

30's 40's you are working

Mental health has gone to shite because parents and teachers told kids that they were special and made them soft. Nobody has coping skills anymore other than booze, drugs, and suicide. People made it through the Great Depression because they were mentally and emotionally resilient, unlike these pussy kids today.
