Live among them and ask for handouts/charity just like they do.

ETA: Some of y'all need to open your bibles.

Austin recently changed city ordinances to allow homeless to occupy space, similar to places in CA.

This is fricking retarded.

Some people think it's compassionate to let homeless people rot their brains and die a slow death on the street because they aren't getting arrested. This is in fact, the opposite of compassion.

This is spreading in New Orleans as well. They always had a huge homeless problem on Claiborne and by the New Orleans Mission. But now I see them camping out on St. Charles which is just fricked up.

It’s more so due to the recent change in laws that allow them to camp out and be homeless so now the cops don’t just spend time shuffling them around from one place to the other.

So stupid. Their answer to homelessness is "Let's take away inconveniences to being homeless and make it more convenient for the homeless to be homeless. That'll get them off the streets!"

The people of Austin in general are pissed about this and are calling for the city council and mayor's heads.

Well of course they do this. It makes them feel like they're "doing something", all the while knowing the icky homeless people won't be allowed within five miles of their lily-white gated communities.

Lived there for 3 years in the mid 80s. Liz Warren was a no name professor at UT Law School teaching banking law. I don't remember there being any homeless presence to speak of. Austin was a bit hippie-ish, but was a livable, clean city.

I saw a group in N.O. under the overpass at Clio and Prytania this morning that had set up a whole nice looking leather sectional sofa in the little median area to enjoy their breakfast beers.

I understand the neighborhood loves this new community but LaToya loves her some heroin addicts even more because it prevents gentrification from expanding even more rapidly.

Yah they're everywhere in the downtown/walkable area. Makes Austin look dirty. Left me with a poor impression last time I was there.

I also had one follow me for a block or two calling me a cocksucker for premeptively saying sorry when he was approaching me to ask for change.

"Sorry...you're not sorry you cocksucker" ...his friend joined in for the block.

I went recently and it’s really bad. Hadn’t been in two years and it definitely wasn’t this bad last time I was there.

When I was in college a decade ago Austin had just enough homeless to be charming, now it’s an invasion.

He wouldn't complain about them on social media and pretend they're not human, either.

Everyone on here likes to shite on California and the homeless problems across our country, but the homeless problems typically exist in places that have a much higher quality of life than say, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, etc.

Spare me the lecture

That's because they naively incentivize the homeless thus exacerbating the problem.

Because Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, etc. don't subsidize their homeless populations like California does. Not to mention California for the most part has mild weather year-round.

It's a huge problem out west. Try going to skid row sometime. It will blow your freaking mind.
