LA is one of the worst I've seen

Austin had panhandlers on every intersection when I was there but there weren't whole city blocks of homeless tenements like in LA

It's not just L.A. It's OC, San Diego and the Inland Empire. It's out of control out here.

Austin has always had homeless. It's grown with the population.

California homeless aren't packing up the VW bus and driving to Austin to be homeless in Texas.

I'll say that the skyrocketing home/rent prices due to influx of Cali techies isn't helping the issue, though.

Why would they? Better benefits and better weather in California.

Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles > Austin.
I'm not too sure about San Diego's homeless problem.

That, in my opinion, seems to be the ideal place. frick being homeless in Austin. It's way too damn hot there.

This is in order by the cities with the worst homeless person problem.

1. NYC
2. L.A.
3. Seattle
4. San Diego
5. San Jose
6. Wash DC
7. San Fran
8. Boston
9. Las Vegas

As liberal views on homelessness became law, they have turned the West Coast more and more into a giant shithole. Austin is becoming more and more populated with liberals fleeing the deteriorating conditions they've created only to re-create them in Austin.

"Keep Austin Weird" is devolving before our eyes into "Make Austin San Francisco".

I was just messing around on Zillow and holy shite! I know this is a pretty good area and attractive given its proximity to downtown, but damn!

2/2 - 690 sq ft, $560,000

I shouldn't have been, but I was surprised of the amount of homeless in Vegas.

And this is from someone who lived in Chicago and visits New Orleans several times a year.

There are blocks of homeless north of downtown/Fremont area. Just because there's a dispensary in walking distance, don't walk that way.

Weird. I rarely see them in Boston. Also, how is Portland not on the list?

The Bay Area has worse weather than the deep south does.

It's no where near what cities like Seattle, Portland, SF, and Vancouver deal with.

Hence why I said "for the most part". And if by "deep south" you mean Florida and the coastal areas of SC, GA, AL, MS, and southern LA sure. Otherwise no.

A lot of them live in the drainage tunnels.

This cannot be understated. Extreme weather, both hot and cold, makes being homeless a life-threatening proposition. CA is uniquely situated to support more homeless than almost any other place.
