There are a ton of Louisiana people in Austin these days which is great. I have yet to meet anyone from California, that I know of, in three years but I’m not a tech bro so that’s to be expected.
I don’t get all of the hate? I feel like what has happened is Austin was underrated - and now it is overrated after being number one on all of these stupid lists.
Has similar pros and cons to most booming cities. The traffic argument holds no weight IMO as it is bad in all major cities in TX and LA and most other states. My commute is actually 10 minutes to downtown from my house. It’s all anecdotal.

Dude New Orleans is the furthest thing from a “small town vibe”

Typical city slicker, still thinks rural communities need sprawling concrete to live. Hopefully, we will not have to learn the hard way.

Old people have also seen more and have a frame of reference. How would a 30 year old transplant know anything about how the city was 50 years ago?

I've lived in Austin since the late 90's. I've seen the city change, in both good and bad ways. Weird and funky have been replaced by hip and trendy. You used to be able to wear shorts and flip flops everywhere, even downtown. Even though I'm not a native Austinite, I have come to love this city and call it my home. It offers a great quality of life. Some say it's overrated, but if you value low crime, clean streets, good public schools, an abundance of outdoor activities, plenty of culture (not culcha), efficient city government, etc. then it's a nice place to live.

Austin is an amazing city. Anyone from Louisiana hating on it doesn’t recognize that at minimum Austin would be the second best city in the state. Arguably #1

Totally wrong. New Orleans in the early to mid 90s was much more dangerous than it is now. It was downright scary.
