I assume you mean the small cities and towns where landscapes are taken by pump jacks, underground pipelines, wheat fields, cotton fields, wind farms, ranches and farms, cattle and other livestock...you know, the items produced you assume will be stocked when happy a$$e$ walk into HEBs. Towns where it takes 15 minutes to arrive at darn near any restaurant you can find, we don't have a Taco Cabana. Or live in a city that boasts 12 homicides a year. Or to be able to drive about 2 hours to the DFW Metroplex or OKC.
I'll keep my slow, dinky dink lifestyle...thanks anyway...is a shame how city folks think they are the end all, be all....btw,I was born and grew up in Orleans/Jefferson parishes when LIFE WAS GOOD there

Nola threads are always good for some laughs. There are legit reasons for not wanting to live or raise a family in Nola, but there's pretty much no real reason to live in LA otherwise unless you're hellbent on being near family.

can not think of a better city to be in as a single dude considering the lax drinking culture, sexually liberal women both living/visiting, festivals/events, biking, weather, etc

You see white people walking in every neighborhood (except the East) in New Orleans now. NOLA has too many problems to count but its improved a lot in the past 7-8 years, unlike Baton Rouge and Shreveport.

I’ll admit it I’m wrong, but the murders were more confined back then. Confined to the projects and known ghettos. Since the projects have been closed, the criminals are more dispersed. Dispersed more to the surrounding areas for sure, like The West Bank. Algiers is gross now.

They may be more dispersed that doesn’t change the fact that tourist and average Joes aren’t the people getting murdered in Nola.
Nola is better than it’s been in 40 years and anyone with half a brain recognizes this.
Of course it still has major problems and is nowhere close to being Austin. People just need to stop with the stupidity of calling it a sewer and shithole
