Pinky Cole, the founder of Slutty Vegan, gifted LLCs to the Clark Atlanta University graduating class of 2022, encouraging them to go down the same entrepreneurship path that she has flourished along.

While this sounds like a pretty cool gesture, how useful is this actually if half the graduating class had no intentions of even being a business owner to begin with.

So she gifted them a yearly franchise tax bill and now they have to file extra returns? Most of them will be cussing her next year.

Hey, here is this mostly useless thing for you at this stage in your life, but it comes with filing requirements and responsibilities you aren't prepared for!

Congrats!

So basically, she gifted them with $100 and some paperwork, and now they have to pay the annual state fees.

Thanks

She planted the seed so maybe they will try and grow it to bear fruit.

Or have any use for at this time as a broke, recent college grad.

If they aren’t thought what to do with the LLC, taxes, type of business to start, advertising, etc 99% of them will fail and not be able to afford to keep the LLC

Wait she gifted them LLCs? Just empty ones? Or actual shares of a profitable business?

How'd she file for LLCs for people she doesn't know?

Besides, if someone wants to set up an LLC, it's a couple hundred bucks depending on the state. I know I paid around $250 in AL and I just googled prices for Georgia and it's $110. If you're wanting to open a business and can't afford the LLC filing, you may want to rethink your plan.

How many were in the graduating class? This may have been cheaper than running a commercial.

Very weird seeing this here. I just had to serve them a quiet title action for a client bc they're in client's adjacent property in the Old Fourth Ward.

Could've been me. Lol.

This is my question as well. So she basically filled out paperwork for people that didn’t even want or need it and have no use for it? Bravo… It’s not that hard to do the paperwork. And probably not even legal.
What did she put under type of business? This is dumb unless she actually gave them a working business-you get a snowball stand! you get a car wash! you get a taco truck! Now that would be cool.

This is one of the dumbest things I've read today. Granted, it's early still.
