Dear FB...

so i was driving up Stanford Ave sometime around 4:30 this am and this elderly couple was walking BACK from their morning walk.

I’ve also noticed this to be a common trend among the elderly. Why wake up so god damn early? What you gotta do for the rest of the day but sit around? Do y’all go to sleep at 6pm?

eta... talking about the retired, not those still holding jobs

I can’t fricking sleep a full night’s sleep. I’m exhausted right now after waking up at 4:30. Had nightmares all night that we’re deeply disturbing and now I just feel like I’m in a perpetual yawn.

It’s a curse of sorts. I’m now programmed to pop up at 5:00am for no reason at all.

It’s the inverse of teens sleeping to noon.

Used to have an older neighbor at 4am every day he would open his garage, pull out a chair and sip coffee.

When we went out late and were after partying or hanging and heard his garage open we knew it was time to hop to bed.

He was like 74 when his left neighbor (a Spanish version of Mayor Cantrell; same face and underbite) came out and attacked him with a broom causing him to need stitches. She accused him of sleeping with her OT 2 seventeen year old daughter.

That's still talked around her 20+ years later

You have to get up at 3:30 if you want to be hungry for the early bird special dinner at 4.

I wake up every morning between 5 and 5:30. That started because of my son waking up at that time, but now it's just habit. I think before 5 is too early.

Same here, and I'm 32 years old. Doesn't matter what time I went to sleep the night before (1am last night, 10:30 Sunday night), work has me conditioned for around that time.

I will say that it's nice to get up early like that on days off, it seems to make the day last twice as long.

I wake up at 530-545 everyday for work

My grandma who still works, gets up around 4. She works 6-2...likes to beat Atlanta traffic both ways.

Its nice to get shite done while the rest of the world sleeps. Early AM Sunday grocery shopping is the best.

When I was a very very young my mom, brother, and I lived with my grandparents wjile my dad (army) did two 18 month tours overseas. My grandfather worked at Dupont and was up at 4:30 every day and my grandmother made breakfast for him every day. I started waking up then and got into the habit. For my entire life I have been getting up around. 4:30. Of course I also hunt and fish so getting up early has always come easy.

I enjoy getting up early, having time to work on stuff without interruptions, knocking out emails, etc.... not a curse for me.

I'm up by 4 most days... Two main factors: as I've gotten older, I need less sleep. 6 hours is a lot of sleep for me; 4-5 is more like it. I just can't sleep more than that. Also, I live in NOLA and run pretty serious miles (2K miles/yr), and to beat heat & traffic, I do a lot of pre-dawn miles.

I started getting up at 4 AM years ago. Gives me plenty of time to shite, shower and shave before doing my chores. Also I read the OT and drink coffee.

I go to bed normally by 7:30 PM.

Waking up early gives you a jump on the world.

You should propose a bill to put a stop to it. How dare they get up and walk early in the morning. Who do they think they are, Americans?
