I am sure you will really enjoy ski trips with a replaced hip when you are 70 and sitting on the beach with melanoma when you are 75.

I am with you as far as saving and wondering how everyone else lives the Facebook life, but it’s their life, so no need to knock it.

26 for Roth. Having to backdoor now, though. Still do not have an HSA.

Always have. The match amount comes out of my check monthly. Then I usually try to contribute at least some of my bonus amount.

3300, 4. One neat thing is if you pay one wife child support, the NEXT one up does get hers calculated based on your income - wife 1's support.

Retraction

As soon as I got a job that matches 401k funds I contributed what was required to max out match so 23. Maxed out the Roth at 25. Don’t have an HSA

You still qualify for a Roth? How’s it feel to be poor?

The title says 401k up to match. I doubt that is the full 18.5k

I think my dad encouraged me to start at my first job with benefits, age 18. The benefits were so good that I continued to work there while in college.

No she can't. She can only get what is hers based on the QDRO. The remainder stays put for you.

Are you an attorney? Do you recommend this route INSTEAD of giving her more tangible assets(giving up your equity in the house and furniture for example) to NOT have her hooks in your retirement fund?

I can't imagine many scenarios where adding an ex spouse to my retirement account for distributions later is a good idea, unless it's a LOT of money and there's no other options.

I think that’s what he’s implying.
$11,000 for Roth
$18,500 for 401k
$5,000 for HSA

If I’m wrong I’ll retract my previous and submit that as soon as I got a job that matches 401k funds I contributed what was required to max out match so 23. Maxed out the Roth at 25. Don’t have an HSA
