For real, that sounds like a nightmare. Slow painful way to go.
Crushes are slowing moving disasters. The collective push from mass of the crowd is basically unstoppable without intervention from the show.
There is a good/heavy 30 for 30 on the Liverpool soccer game disaster. The images of the crowd against the fence is terrible.
For the crush in festival where Pearl Jam was at playing, once the band realized something was happening they stopped playing, and Eddie Vedder led the crowd in taking 3 steps back several times. But it was too late. Now they during shows they actively ask the crowd several times if everyone is OK.
Basically, the security at the front has to be hyper aware of the potential, and be willing to stop the show until pressure is relieved.

How can you not understand how it could happen?
Do you think it's likely?

Interesting, lot of heart attacks for a young crowd....
That just means the heart stopped. Every single person that dies experiences cardiac arrest.

I’m sure it’s been asked before but who is Travis Scott? Who is his audience? Why did they rush through the gates and trample so many people?
Is this type of thing common?
My wife, SIN, and mother in law are going to the Lauren Daigle concert tonight at the Smoothie King Center, should I be worried that something like this could happen there tonight?

From what I gather, this Travis Scott is not really a hard-core gansta rapper, where he talks about killing people, "I fricked your bitch", slangin crack rocks, ect ect.

Oh so he’s like a Drake the fake wanna be gangsta?

It sounds likely it happened to at least one person. Accidental sticks happen all the time and can be very dangerous. The idea that someone would weaponize that is concerning. If it happened to one are a few more possible? I wouldn’t have thought even one was likely until it was brought up in the press conference. What I don’t think you understand is how possible it could be. I sure hope it didn’t go down this way because it would change a lot of things. I’m not saying this is what happened to everyone who was injured or died. But there are some evil people out there who can’t be underestimated.

Not only that, but Pearl Jam does have a concert rush/crush incident on their record (2000 Roskilde Festival, 9 people killed) and I'm not seeing any article online that made it a "race" issue for Pearl Jam.
The deaths at that Pearl Jam concert (which btw was in like Denmark which is probably 90% white) was from people falling and getting trampled on in a massive mosh pit. That's not what happened at Astroworld Fest. There was nobody at that Pearl Jam concert knocking down and collapsing gates, rushing past security and/or pushing them down, or jumping on top of and dancing on emergency response vehicles trying to get to the injured. That is the type of bad behavior I'm referring to. Also, back in 1999, there were people/media that made what went on at Woodstock absolutely about race, and that was well before the HBO documentary that came out this year. I remember back in 1999 there were media that even brought up other incidents at rock concerts, such as the Metallica/Guns n Roses concert riot in Canada back in 1992, so 99 Woodstock is not the lone example of incidents being made about race at majority white concerts. And as I said earlier, it's dumb to make issues like this about race when it's about trashy people combined with a lack of security and/or proper logistics.

Travis Scott is a POS. Kept on playing while dead bodies are literally being pulled out of the crowd
Link below here is NSFL. Lifeless body being pulled from the crowd by security, as Scott continues to be a POS. No injury can be seen, but dude is obviously either unconscious or dead and being tossed like a rag doll
Edit: decided not to put the link here. It’s fricked up though

How do you not immediately shut the whole thing down when people are freely coming through the gates.

They were following the federal government’s security playbook.

He encourages that though and has been arrested twice before for that.

I saw something about some of the deceased being injected by something and it was being investigated. Anyone else read that?

You are confusing that with another group of gate crashers.

quote:I don’t think this is fair. There is video of his stopping a couple times looking confused, but but probably had no idea what exactly was happening. In fact, a view I saw from the stage, even knowing what was happening, I wasn’t able to tell. Crushes can be crazy, because everyone behind those being crushed don’t really know what’s happening, even those who are likely unintentionally helping cause it.

Who is his audience?

Seeing a first responder was injected with something in his neck but he was revived with NARCAN. WTF is going on?

Suffocated then, they should say it
I know you don’t like the idea of science as a process, but they don’t do autopsies in the field to determine causes.
They are triaging patients and handing their symptoms best they can. Paramedics don’t have time to annotate their reports with guesswork.
What the hospital needs to know is that they are bringing in a patient whose heart has stopped. Nothing else matters until that is cleared up.
