At least 23 dead in Mississippi tornadoes

FOX LINK
Left 100 mile path of destruction

FOX News Channel confirmed at least 23 people are dead after the storm pummeled across the state Friday evening, destroying buildings and knocking out power for thousands of residents. Seven of those deaths were confirmed in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, and three were confirmed in Carroll County, Mississippi. FOX Weather confirmed at least two people were injured, too. Those numbers are expected to rise. The severe line of storms prompted a tornado emergency to be issued in a few towns, which is the most dire of tornado-related alerts. By definition, it warns that a "large and violent" tornado likely to cause significant widespread damage and numerous fatalities is on the ground.

Ugh that’s terrible. Hoping for more good news than bad as the sun rises.

Watched footage of the tornado. It was massive. The town was leveled. I know the jokes about trailers and a Mississippi divorce. But these were homes leveled not trailers.

Mobile homes most likely were involved.
I'd would consider regulation of Mobile home parks to require an on-site shelter, if more than say a dozen homes.

That’s horrible. Tornadoes at night are terrifying.

I think all of these deaths were caused by one single storm. That storm crossed the entire state. The tornado wasn’t on the ground the whole way across, it appears, but the storm dropped tornadoes at least 3-4 separate times along the journey across the state.

I hunted in Rolling Fork, MS in the nearby Sunflower and Twin Oaks WMA’s. Beautiful Mississippi Delta Country. Not much in the town except a bumpers drive inn, rolling fork motel, and a gas station that serves good hot plates. Sad to read it got hit

It’s apparently very bad. Some of the chasers I follow on Twitter are saying that Rolling Fork is the worst they’ve seen.

Maybe. Can’t tell from the rubble in the pictures. But they have some lightning backlit photos of a massive wedge tornado. And a lot of trees that have been completely de-barked.
The one that started over Lake Providence and went into Rolling Fork was clearly a very powerful tornado.

To be fair, his entire tweet said

Oh my God… pray for these people. Silver City is awful with multiple victims. One of my best tornado intercepts ever but somber after search and rescue… ??

Here's video from Rolling Fork, MS. Youtube 18 wheelers tossed around like toys. A brick house flattened. Metal beams folded in half. A random school bus turned over in someone's yard. A guy with an 18 wheeler on top of his house.
Holy shite. That’s insane

Yeah you know it's bad when you watch the video and can't really tell what the debris used to be.

Crazy! So sad.
It’s weird the random shite that catches your eye in those videos to me. Like, why is that push mower under the car or just random generator sitting there with nothing else around it.
