If you like crowded up crowds of people and flooding then the AP is for you.
And I find the Free State of Livingston is too crowded.

Better for what?

Meth quality? Pedophiles per square mile? LP for sure.

I live in Livingston, seems to be going down hill. Still enjoy it out here, but things have changed over 20 years. Too many cheap DR subdivisions and too much growth.

Livingston still has large rural undeveloped areas I'd personally be frightened to get lost in. Ascension is getting overcrowded, but good thing there's almost no reasons to go to BR for anything. restaurants, shopping, etc.

It has been over a year since I drove through Live Oak school traffic. Been doing WFH and/or going into the office early. Anyway, I had to take a kid to the dentist this AM, and I forgot about the beast that is 7AM LOHS traffic. Sat in traffic for 21 minutes to cover 1.5 miles. Frigging unbelievable.

Most of that road (La. Hwy 16) didn't even exist when I was a kid--they straightened/widened it 20 years ago. Told my kid that maybe in another 40 years they'll manage to get it 4-laned.

Ascension is way too crowded, some surface roads are shite, and its getting difficult to find good land. Plus our Council members are just the worst. Any land a developer can find, they are going to approve building on it. Who gives a shite if people flood.

DRHorton and DSLD subdivision should just be referred to as "future slums."

Air quality/Cancer Rate = Livingston by a mile
Schools = Ascension (but Livingston is not bad)
Traffic= both terrible
Things to do = slight edge to Ascension (Tanger Outlet > Juban)
Cost of Living = Livingston
Job Opportunities = Ascension by a mile
Neighborhoods = Ascension
Less Meth heads = Ascension
Less White trash = Ascension
Less a-holes = Livingston

Other factors
Ascension is closer to Nola
Livingston has a lot of cheap land in the rural areas
Livingston has a hooters. Ascension does not

Both are bad and have their faults. It’s comparing a morning shite to and evening shite. The BR/NOLA metro area is about two steps from a third world country. Can’t wait to leave this place.

disclaimer- ive spent zero time in AP, but statistically it compares well to St Tammany and has many of the same issues (flooding, overdevelopment, traffic)... so why is AP so often the butt of jokes but St Tammany is highly revered?
