Yep.
Voted Clint last time.
Will be going with Clint again this year.
Louisiana made a lot of shitty choices in 2015.
Here's who should have won in the races I voted.
Governor = David Vitter. Legit conservative and not a RINO and would put an arse beating on ambulance chasers in this state.
Lt. Governor = Kip Holden. Qualified democrat that loves Louisiana and would be a great tourism rep.
Clint Cointment = Real AP guy who's not part of the donaldsonville machine and wants to improve our infrastructure and stop commercial real estate developers from going buck wild.

Im not saying Matassa isnt a crook or any politician is an angel. However not all conferences are the same. Some are extremely beneficial. There is opportunity for educating the very dumb idiotic goverment organizers we complain about.
But do you REALLY think that happened?
Uncle Kenny got a free trip to Vegas and brought his croonies. All under the guise of a "conference"
I've attended many conferences and can tell you that the senior leaders barely attend any sessions. They usually sit in the lobby circle jerking each other until it's time to snort blow off a hooker's arse.

Murphy Painter for Parish President. He is a man of integrity and will bring honor to this office!

The OP said there were 7 Ascension officials plus guests and six rooms on the public tab. It also said it was just hotel and registration fees.
Who pays for food, transportation, etc?

Ac opy of the travel authorization form granted airfare, hotel, registration, and $75 per diem for meals
"Guests" on the public dollar is shady AF

I'd be in favor of a state law banning elected officials attending out of state conferences.
Just make them pay for the transportation or lodging. If it’s a conference their constituents can benefit from there’s no reason to bar it. Just make it cheaper

6 rooms for 6 people? You think that’s outrageous?

No, it doesn't. But don't most hotels have 2 separate beds? Should've had 3 hotel rooms for the 6 people attending the conference. But being that they said it was 6 hotel rooms for 11 people makes me think the officials took advantage of tax money paying for the hotel rooms and wanted private rooms so they could bring their spouses along.
I'm sorry but if I'm going on a business trip there's no way in hell I'm sharing a room with someone else. This isn't a trip to a CYO basketball tournament. When you work for a company you get your own room. And if a company wants me to share a room, Im sure as hell looking for another company that's more financially stable.
As far as this situation, I have no problem with the spouses going as long as they paid their own airfare, meals, expenses, etc. The room was already paid for whether you have one person in each room or their spouses as well. And 10k to attend a conference seems pretty damn reasonable to me. Im not a fan of Kenny either but its pretty obvious that the people bitching in here dont like him and arent very in tune with the benefits of these types of conferences and the cost of them either.

Typical Donaldsonville good ole boys system at the head of the table in this parish. This is what happens when Donaldsonville guys are given power. They’re worse than Chicago politicians. Y’all watch and see if anything changes if Painter wins. NOTHING will change if he wins. Anyone and everyone in Donaldsonville who has money is in Murphy Painter’s back pocket. He’s going to be held hostage by them. To be fair, Cointment will have the east bank in his back pocket so it just becomes a question of who do you want influencing the new leadership. I, for one, am tired of a Donaldsonville having such a large influence in the entire parish’s going’s on.
Can you go into more detail? I'm only familiar with the Gonzales Mafia of Berthelot's, Marchand's etc.
Murphy is a good guy, btw.

6 flights, 6 hotel rooms, 6 badges to the conference.
exactly
its only due to locale....

How old are you? That practice of co-workers sharing rooms to save the company/municipality money has LONG been nixed around the late 90s when Sexual Harassment skyrocketed. Employers don't WANT employees to share rooms anymore.

I was in Atlanta for a big Microsoft Conference a month ago and it was $1500 for the conference and $1k for downtown room(walking distance to Georgia World Congress) for 3 nights.
6 people to eat, lodge, and attend a conference could easily be 10k. This is much ado about nothin, unless they drove and took side trips and shite like someone we remember.

Must be too many plant baws and fast food workers to get upset about this. Professionals should attend conferences to see how issues are being handled around the country/world and to collaborate for solutions. They should not learn everything they can from those directly around them. That’s how nothing changes.
This is correct in a theoretical sense. There’s probably no chance anything legitimately like this happened here, though.
This seems pretty far down the list of potential gripes to bring up about elected officials in Louisiana either way.

hell, when I hit the TxDOT forum in Austin, between myself and another person we hit $4-5k easily (only 2 nights).

Of all places to stay they stay at Caesar's Palace. It's not the most exquisite hotel on the strip anymore, but its still in the upper tier.

screw it. If Tarsha and her ilk can fleece the taxpayers and get away with i I don't have a problem with Matasa doing it.
