As a man, do you cry?

This topic is interseting to me. It's wierd for me. I'm in my 50s, lost all of my grandparents, plenty of aunts and uncles. But at all of these funerals I never "lost it" like many of my people did. Sad, for sure. Just no true tears.
Now plenty of movies have "choked me up". You can't watch Old Yeller and not get choked up. But I never really cry.
I've had younger friends die that got me, but still not that crying like I saw other people go through.
Finally though, when my dad died it was a little different for me. He had brain cancer and we knew it was coming. So not a sudden thing. I went and picked out the casket, helped my mom with the banking stuff, etc. Did the wake, the funeral, went back to her house, etc. And I never cried through that whole process. A week later I was watching a college football game and something came up in the game that would normally prompt me tto call my dad. I grabbed my phone to call him and in that instant for some reason it hit me and I cried harder than I've cried in my life.
I know, sad topic. Sorry OT.

I've cried in my South End zone seat and it had nothing to do with football.

Me too. That's where our tickets were/are.

I’ve probably cried twice as an adult. Both due to grandparents funerals

No tear ducts here and I don't have an ounce of gayness in me. I'm the kind of man your great grandpa wished he was.

Only when I read "my dog is dead" threads on the OT
speaking of, we haven't had one this week.

On occasion. In private. And then I tell myself to sack up and move on.
Maybe twice a year.

I get the question. But it wasn't about that, I would be watching football and call him when App St was about to beat Michigan. Stuff like that. I truly don't remember what it was that day. It was just a reflex to call my dad. And that's what finally made me "lose it".

I was raised with the "men don't cry" mentality. I remember my mom saying she only seen my dad cry one time and it was when his dad died so I still have that voice in my head "men don't cry" but dealing with some things with my mom and it just being a matter of time before she passes away, I have cried several times over the past year and a half. I also cried when my dog died. I will probably cry when the two I have now die.

Yes. At the end of the day, it’s how I process and release sadness, grief, or fear.
It beats the alternative of anger and violence which is how some folks release their emotions.
Not ashamed of it at all.

I cried when I lost my dad. I still miss him even if he was as stubborn as me.

Right before my daughters’ wedding when all the memories of her as a young child hit me all of a sudden.

I really never do and I’m sure people think I have no emotions. I think it’s just ingrained in men to just suck it up and be a man

I do cry. Not enough honestly and also not a blabbering cryer. Few good tears and then its gone. Generally happens when something reminds me of someone ive lost. Great humanity moments always get me a little. A good cry is good for the soul. Let's a lot of animosity and pent up aggression out for me. Always feel better and a state of calm after.

If you can read shite about the rainbow bridge and not shed some tears, I don't want to be your friend.
