I was B when I was younger. Now I block the lane so those assholes can’t go to the front and clog traffic.

That's me, except I look for a baw in a semi and saddle up next to him, forcing the traffic behind me to follow the semi.

Car B is correct. People not following the zipper actually cause more issues

I usually deploy my truck nuts and concrete bumpers and push line jumpers into the ditch.

This. It's a similar problem to people who will not move over from the left lane. If you're in the left lane, and there are numerous cars behind you, move over. It's not your job to police speed limits.

This has been thoroughly studied and car B is correct.

Car A thinks he's right, but, he's actually an idiot because he actually pushes the back up farther.

This should be intuitive to people if you just recognize that if Car A were correct, then even when there's no construction, it would be a net BENEFIT to reduce lanes on highways which, quite obviously, it isn't.

Also, if car A is correct, then frick, why stop there. SURELY merging 500m earlier than Car A would be SUPER correct!!! How about 1000m!!!!

You’d rather everyone doing what car A is doing and leave an entire lane of roadway empty? How far back should these car As start merging, at the end of the traffic line? Why have a two lane highway at all?

Thank you

All the OP did here is prove he's an emotional wreck who can't think logically and instead gets upset if he perceives he didn't "win" the traffic game

Maybe just let your husband drive, b/c you obviously don't know how.

Most people have a fear of merging for some dumbass reason. That's car A. You are why traffic congestion exists.

Maybe when traffic is moving. When right lane traffic is stopped and people cruise up in the left lane wanting to get in at the head of the line, frick that shite.

They are correct.

You are wrong.

If you were right, then wherever you merged is STILL too late. You should have done it 1000m sooner so as to not be a bitch

B is a zipper merge. It is the correct way and if everyone followed it, traffic would flow smoother.

Alas, people get butthurt and take it personally when someone is trying to merge. Dopes.

While true, 99% chance car B is doing it because they're selfish and think their time is more valuable than everyone else, and a 1% chance that they're thinking zipper merge when they do it.

And there's a 99% chance the person in car A whining about it is doing so for selfish reasons because they hate someone "beating" them.

Regardless, it's fricking common sense.

If there was a benefit to leaving thousands of feet of lane empty, then why have that lane at all............EVER!

So left lane traffic should also stop at some arbitrary point and create more congestion?

People here are gonna say B but if people did like A then there would be fewer slowdowns.
This assumes that traffic is not already stopped.

Yeah. I laughed at his post because he said if traffic is moving, maybe then B is ok but not if stopped.

Um, that's literally the EXACT OPPOSITE. If traffic is moving and you can fall in without slowing anyone down then ANY choice to fall in is fine. Early, late, earlier, whatever.

It's when traffic is stopped that anything but zipper is retarded.

These people drive like a bunch of emotional women.

MORON

Why A? Why not C 500m sooner? Why not D 1000m sooner?

You know the difference between the 3 cars behind the B merging point and the 3 cars behind the A merging point?

Answer...........nothing but your female emotions

Well, that assumption eliminates the scenario entirely because if you can merge into flowing traffic, then you merge into flowing traffic and no one bitches.

This "debate" is ALWAYS about people being mad traffic is stopped and thinking merging early is "polite" when, in fact, it's retarded
