Are you Car A or Car B in this scenario?

So, I did my fair share of traveling this past week. From Fort Wayne to Fayetteville for the Ark/Aubie game, and Fort Wayne to Philly for a funeral. All along the way, I encounter road construction on I-69, I-70, I-44, I-49, and both OH/PA Turnpikes. It even rained in most areas.

While my drive on the PA Turnpike, some areas had lane merges that shifted to one lane due to construction. On I-70, there was a wreck that shifted everyone to one lane. So, I've seen it move to a slow crawl to pass these areas to driving 60-80 mph to pass.

Everytime, there were bitches that waited until the very last second, literally 100 ft in front of the cones before shifting. Below is a simple diagram of what I mean.

I was B when I was younger. Now I block the lane so those a-holes can’t go to the front and clog traffic.

The things some of you let stick in your head are unbelievable.

I might think someone was an arse for pulling in front of me at that moment, but I'm not thinking about it 5 minutes later, and I'm sure as shite not starting a thread about it Monday and calling the guy's mother a whore.

Car B is doing it the intended way. Google a zipper merge.

I usually drive up pretty far - all the people getting in line early is essentially like cutting down the volume of a hose for no reason.

I definitely do this. Honestly though, it depends on the situation. I'd be lying if I said I never did B like when I am in a hurry. But for the most part, I am A.

If I am getting onto the interstate and merging on, I'm more likely to do B. I just choose to merge late. But it does piss me off when people already on the interstate get out of line and into the merge lane, and then pull a B. It's different when you are first entering than exiting and getting back in to skip some of the line. I don't know if that makes sense or not..

think of it as a public service annoucement. if someone here is car B, then maybe they'll think twice about it.

If you're car A, you're a dumb bitch. Car B is doing what's called a zipper merge and it's how it's supposed to work to get everyone through in the quickest manner possible.

No, they just think you're an idiot because they are driving correctly.

No, you are reducing the surface area of available roadway while keeping the same number of cars and are exacerbating the congestion

I guess both at times. I just try to find an opening when I realize the lanes are merging. Sometimes that's early enough to be A, sometimes too late and the good lane is stacked, so I do B. I just try not to be aggressive in either situation.

If they wanted you to merge where car A was getting in line, the cones would be back by car A….

Yeah studies have shown that zipper merging is the most efficient way for traffic to move. Its science.

I don't really get throwing a fit because someone zipper merges in front of you. Wahhh I've been waiting so long in this lane and that person didn't wait their turn wahhh

Like, why would you take something like that personal.

B is doing it the right way. Go all the way up and zipper merge. Car A causes traffic to move slower by merging too early
