In Texas, definitely. It has been 100 here lately and I'm not wearing long sleeves he next couple months.
101 yesterday in DFW.
I am wearing short sleeve company polo and jeans. Working in a lab has its perks sometimes.

I used to be that way and then joined a company that wears jeans every day and tshirts on Friday. I could care less what people wear to work now as long as they get their work done.
This is a 180 for me. I used to believe in wearing suits was the most appropriate dress attire.

I have a meeting tomorrow and they sent out an email saying to dress business casual. Daily wear is a suit and usually they require a suit at meetings as well.
If my daily office attire was a suit and they said "business casual" I would wear wear dress slacks and a long sleeve dress shirt. In an office where full suit is the normal expectation, business casual likely means lose the coat and tie essentially.

Polos are only acceptable business casual on Fridays. Monday through Thursday go with a button down

Generally yes but I'd wear a long sleeve button down just in case, maybe even have a sport coat handy.

Just recently went through this. It was suits every day for the men, year round. Business casual on Fridays was the only exception. Khakis and a button down or polo were what about 90% of the guys here wore on Fridays, depending on time of year. Obviously in the winter you might wear a sport coat as well. We announced back in December that this location was going business casual. It is now late July and there are still a few of the older guys who wear a suit every day. They may not always have a tie on, but I guess old habits are hard to shake. My boss said it is just easier. He has like a dozen suits, so he just grabs a shirt and a suit and he's out the door. The younger guys and myself love it. I don't have to put a tie back on after hitting the gym or going for a run at lunch. When it is approaching 100 degrees, it's nice to have a pair of thin summer weight pants and a polo on.

I'd go with a button-down but I'm sure a polo is fine.
I haven't rocked a polo in like 3 years. I'm not on the anti-polo bandwagon, i just dont wear them for whatever reason.

I'll wear a polo occasionally if I don't have any meetings that day. Depending on what/who I'm meeting with, I may wear a sport shirt, dress shirt, or full suit.

I work in a very old school, stuffy environment.

Yup, which polo and dirty jeans did you wear to work today?

I do try to save jeans for days in the field

I'm the only engineer in my group under the age of 40. They all dress like slobs. If all I wore were a polo that fit me well and pants that fit me well, I'd be the best dressed there.

Polo and slacks is fine at most business casual places in summer.
But if we were business most of the time, and a meeting was business casual, I'd at least go sportshirt and slacks.
My office is full time business casual, and polos are fine, but I usually save that for slow days and Friday.

I guess I should have been more specific. All the attendees are the same level as me. The host of the meeting is from a different department, and hierarchy wise are on the same level as everyone in the meeting.
My colleague said he's wearing khakis and doesn't give af what anyone else thinks

No one in the meeting, including the presenter, is a higher level manager than me.
Sounds like this calls for black tie attire to me.

When are khakis and a polo shirt not considered business casual?
Posted on 7/24/17 at 12:26 pm to LSU6262
What else would you consider "business casual"? The two rules of business casual is to not wear jeans and not wear a tie so slacks and polo. But when you say polo, do you mean the style, as in it is a polo style shirt or is it Ralph Lauren?
For some reason it is a pet peeve of mine. I know it is "Polo by Ralph Lauren", but a shirt can be a polo shirt and not be a Ralph Lauren and I don't like non Ralph Lauren polo shirts. Well I have one or two Lacoste shirts, which cost a little more than Ralph Lauren, but Ralph Lauren actually has the best quality, which is the main reason I like their clothes more than any other type.
