re: Are Bassett hounds one of the worst dog breeds?

As far as stubbornness, etc. I have chows. They are the most stubborn, aloof breed out there. And they listen to me. Sounds like your sister sucks at raising dogs. Tell her to hit me up though.

basset hounds are incredibly stubborn.
And like others are said, they are not dumb. They are disinterested.
Bassets aren’t stupid. They literally just have 0 fricks to give.

inside dogs suck
Well, the owners suck and it seems to rub off on the dogs. Animals are for outside.

They’re not stupid. They are extremely stubborn. Hard to train because of it. But I love mine.

Ours is sneaky smart, she acts dumb like a big titted blonde with a PhD in physics. If I am having a snack she really wants some of she will ask to go outside knowing I am likely to just set the bowl on the end table. Then when we come back inside she beats me back to the chair and is face deep before I can say no.
She free feeds and stays trim, she never barks unless she is playing (she will stare at my Ridgebacks barking at the door like he is already going to the door can you shut up now). The only real faults are she doesn't heel well since she is always looking for a scent trail and won't come if she is on one which she always is, I can get her to stop and stay but she isn't leaving the scent. She knows a decent number of tricks and is generally a great dog. I never was a Basset fan but my wife picked a great one.
She won't comply with mask requirements though, she says they don't fit her.

Nah they’re pretty awesome but dumb as rock for sure

Sounds a lot like our female that passed away about 7 years ago. When our son was about 3, she was very crafty to change up her food stealing routine each time we caught on to her tricks.
She would only howl as a response to a certain higher pitched frequency.
When she was young, I’d sprint down the street and she was fast.

We have an 11 year old Bassett mix and she is still such a rascal. She does things she did as a puppy, like kick you if you stop petting her.
And she still wakes me up everyday at 5 in the morning to eat breakfast, then she goes back to sleep.

Alright, you've had 4 years. So what did you conclude on this? It's time for some answers.

Anything mixed with a poodle is awful.

What makes a dog "stubborn"
I have a female hound mix about 60lbz. She is the most nasty, stinky, weird dog there is, but she’s calm, great with the kids and always listens - to an extent. Usually I have to pick her up to put her in the truck because she’s stubborn. Or I have to push her down the house to get in the shower.
She was thrown out the back of a truck as a puppy and ended up in a pet smart. Felt bad for her about 10 years ago. She fits well with our other dog we’ve had for 12 years.

No, they grow like weeds and she hates for me to cut them. It is like being on the mat with a BJJ red belt for 20 minutes. Bassets are like snakes.
Every time I take a picture of her it seems to be right before I cut her nails. Someone always notices and it is almost always a woman that mentions it.

Bro, just do better at being a pet dad and start clipping those nails more than twice a year. Own it.
Naw, I kid. That happens to me sometimes as well. And yes, it's the womens that always notice and point it out.
