I do laugh and judge the people who wear a mask, but keep it below their nose though

No, it doesn't make people look cautious. It makes them look like arseholes since medical personnel have to reuse masks, due to all the dick-bags who insist on wearing them to go into Starbucks.

Bandana, balaclava, neck gaiter pulled up are all probably just as good as a surgeon-style mask (for normal people out in public, not in an OR) and maybe better. I wouldn't bet against them being as good as an N95. (good meaning reducing the probability of getting or spreading the disease).

As I understand it, there's no evidence things like that are as good, but only because there are no studies on it. There's also no evidence they're worse.

So I should donate my old P95 mask I’ve had sitting in the garage for 6 years?

Yes, of course.

Bandana with clear face shield.

Or 3M respirator.

It's not so much protecting you -- if you walk through a cloud of virus, the mask isn't stopping it. It's about knocking down the spread distance when you exhale your virus.

Correct.

It keeps people away.

Win/win.

You’d have to be a complete asshat to judge people who wear them now, particularly given all of the mixed messages and outright misinformation floating around about how this virus is spread.

Can’t help but judge people who are. Old and frail, good for you. Young and spry? Total puss.

What if those young and spry are heading back home to take care of 75 years old mom and dad?

I have no problem with people wearing PPE. I may start using it in public.

The gloves thing doesn't work in the world though with the way people are using them. They are called disposable for a reason.

The lady at the Wendy's drive through with her gloves on is contaminating every person's credit card with every other person's germs that came through before you, just protecting herself.

Yes, but its out of an abundance of caution to others, my family, and the patients I'm around all day.

I wear one of these badboys. Between my mask and the pistol on my hip, I don't have to worry about people breaking the 6 ft human exclusion zone I have established around my person.

Nailed it.

Some of these replies clearly show the lack of basic knowledge of the situation.
