There’s just some times in technology where innovation takes time for awhile
When people will keep buying a new phone every 14 months just because you added a better camera lens/software...why innovate?

Apple hasn’t had vision of their future since Jobs dying. New versions of the iPhone were leaps forward back then. They have just been treading water since.
Cook had zero tech vision. Cook was more about controlled growth by milking his supply chain set up than pushing great leaps in innovation. He also set records buying back stock for years. He made DEi hires and hires who wouldn’t challenge him over quality hires. The new guy is a guy Cook kept promoting after becoming CEO which usually means a weak hire and a yes man to Cook. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is also part of the gay mafia that Cook likes.
The needed to go outside and bring in some vision they have been lacking, but instead they hired someone loyal to Cook with a board of basically all Cook allies that will now have Cook as the executive chairman.

He took over 3 years after the first iPhone when it was taking over. If jobs had lived he would have set records and pushed out more innovation. Cook also used up a lot of cash buying back stock instead of bringing in new product and ideas thru purchases (did most stock buy backs thru bonds which is why Apple has debt now).
Apple market share peaked with the momentum built by Jobs and has taken hits more recently because Cook was about operations, supply chain, and stock buy backs not innovation. He relied on Apple loyalty to slowly milk out product or different versions of the product that started under Jobs using his supply chain. Waisted time and money on cars and still cant make Apple Tv profitable. It was losing a billion a year or something like that.
Pushed apps on the Apple TV hardware, and now every app does different crap with videos. User guidelines suck across all about software with interface inconsistencies.
Pushes tbe home app and suddenly forgets that supply chain and does not make any products for it and doesn’t buy any companies already making product that would have worked like Ring or similar.
Cooks biggest tech version and his “moon shoot” for Apple:

This is sad news
I hope he finds work soon
His salary, stock options and benefit package for just 2024 was $74,609,248
and he's been at the helm of apple for 15 years
Hopefully he put something away in a nestegg to carry him and his family over till the next job

for the love of God stop using ellipses where they aren’t warranted

They completely and utterly whiffed on AI, set them back years. And the iPhone is just stale, ugly as can be design, heavy and thick as a brick. Feels and looks like a phone from 10 years ago.

Job bought Siri in 2010 knowing it was the first direct to person AI tool and then died. He'd be irate Apple has done jack shite with it. Apple under Jobs from 2010 might not have been as successful in the numbers as Cook, but they would be a leader in AI right now. Jobs would have found a better way for us to use it and put it to better use for the consumer.

Yeah, could you imagine Jobs having to ask Google for Gemini to power the new siri? Never in a million years but that's just how far behind Apple is in AI.

The great thing about English is that people add shite to the rules and everyone else just goes with it. I like my ellipses and I will fight anyone who tries to stop me from using them.

Meh, they are always behind in tech. They just market better.

I don’t think stockholders like this move. The new CEO is into gadgets nobody wants or has use for

Their profits and market value have soared under Cook. That’s the point of any company. Not sure what the next great idea will be. At some point it’s just incremental improvements. Jobs was good at innovation but terrible at business.
Apple is the second most profitable company in the world and he’s kept it that way.
He lost ground to NVIDIA but everybody did.
Most of the Fortune 500 companies are rounding errors to Apple.

Exactly. Cook is great with supply chain, retail and operations, but he’s not a product guy at all.
Jobs was a class A a-hole, but he was great at market prediction and organizing the company to deliver on their visionary stuff.
Apple is a hardware company and that's b/c of Jobs
And Apple has innovated in the hardware sector under Cook
The problem is that tech moved away from valuing hardware advancement, and I would argue Jobs would fare no better today because he was a hardware guy. In fact, that ethos/philosophy becoming to ingrained under Jobs is probably why they're having so much difficulty pivoting in the post-hardware tech world.
Apple developing its own silicon/chips and incorporating them into their closed system was massive....just massive within a sphere of shrinking influence.

Jobs gladly accepted Google's money for search when they couldn't innovate there, either.

Why didn’t they give the position to a proud woman of color???
We’ve still got so far to go, yall!

He would also be sick that people get excited about the most menial and irrelevant shite, like Apple essentially putting a flashing light on the edges of your phone screen whenever you ask Siri something and brand the whole thing as an all-new feature: “Apple AI”
Posted on 4/21/26 at 7:53 am to SlowFlowPro
Jobs was a genius in knowing Apple had to get out of the Apple Computers business and essentially create a phone to act as a computer. Something people once they started using it would never want to do without. In many cases the IPhone replaced the laptop.
But that’s basically it. There’s no more innovative hardware that is going to catch on like a personal phone. And you can’t compare NVDA to Apple. Nvidia manufactures microchips. Apple was never going to do that. Apple creates end user products. Nvidia creates parts that go into those products
