If you are over 300lb (200 lb for women) you should have to park in the back of the parking lot. Reducing the number of steps they have to take in a day does not help obesity.

I have to admit that I have never really cared who was parking in the handicap space, but then again I'm not one of the no doubt many on here who drive around a parking lot for 10 minutes stalking people that are leaving from a close parking spot. So if you have a fake leg, collapsed lung, severe obesity, or agoraphobia, have at it. Could care less if you get to park at the front. So overrated in my opinion anyway.

My Mom has a titanium hip she got after breaking hers back in late 2007. As a part of the deal, she gets a notice for flying that states she'll always make the detectors go off, and a handicapped tag.
If she has to walk too far, she'll fatigue, but in short spurts, you can't tell she has any disability whatsoever. She has the tag so that she can avoid fatiguing so she doesn't have to use one of those embarrassing scooters or carts at the grocery store or shopping.

50% overall disabled military vet. Still work 40 hours a week for the Gov. If you see me, you would not know. Carrying an 80# machine gun up seven ladderwells took it's toll on my back and shoulders, but I suck it up and carry on even on the days where it brings tears to my eyes just getting out of bed.
I have never even asked my doctor if I am eligible for handicapped parking, I try to park as far from the door as possible.

Handicapped Tag abuse is rampant and has been for decades. Commandeaux got yall good with the "What if it's a war vet" line. Good one.
I'll bet a bar tab that, in BR, over 25% of those tags are either are not warranted(exaggerated or faked disabilities) or the tag is being used by a relative of the actual handicapped individual.

CSB in my first class at LSU. About two weeks in I noticed a good lookin gal who was always parked right outside Lockett. I called her out on that tag and she had bad Asthma. I felt turrible.

I've noticed here in Dallas that there are a lot of "handicapped" people with expensive sports cars parked up front in the handicapped parking with the handicapped placards on their mirror.
I find it hard to believe a handicapped person can get in & out of a low to the ground Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus etc easily.
I suspect they have plenty of friends with MD's who'll sign off on the handicapped paperwork.

I know three in BR who do this. They are not disabled at all but are friends with MDs.
I ain't naming names(b/c MDs can have you disappear) but that's how I know for fact it's not that hard to do in BR.
