The hope that left-leaning women will one day learn to use the word literally correctly within my lifetime fades every day.

Yep. Just like the socialists will tell you it's never been implemented the right way. But they're gonna nail it this time. Same with healthcare. Same with this situation.

They’re so optimistic to the point of being idealistic. You see it with the fully electrical vehicle push. They don’t care if it isn’t exactly feasible within a decade. It just sounds great so they want it.

Every time she says something I think she can't possibly say anything dumber the next time. And every time she proves me wrong.

22% of Texas’ power grid is solar and wind and it is producing exactly 0 kw of power right now due to the storm.

If that number is true, that puts Texas at only 6% behind New York, you know....the home state of that moronic piece of shite AOC. That's pretty damn good considering Texas is a whole lot bigger with a whole lot more rural areas to cover.

They're so much smarter than everyone and we should just do what they want, dammit!

Yep. The more likely explanation is they are terminally online dipshits that do not live in the real world.

Just read more theory bro.

This right here is exactly how an ignorant bartender gets elected to the US Congress.

Thinking with the wrong head.

isn't TX relatively high in % from renewables?

Yes and those POSs are a contributor to the current situation.

Infrastucture failures everywhere in U.S. but it doesn't have anything to do with a green deal. It's simply misallocation of funds.

This right here. We see the budget fights every year. We see taxes raised seemingly all the time. They are always crying for more money. Yet, our county, state, and country are falling down around our damn ears. Yet, some people still insist on giving the government more money and more power.

I’d argue that Texas and the gulf coast gets nasty winter storms almost as often as they get *major* hurricanes

last time there was snow in the ground at my house (as in any accumulation at all) was 1989.

Andrew, Katrina, Rita, Ike, Laura have all hit as majors since then.
Lili, Gustav, Delta and probably some i am forgetting all but just shy of “major” status.

so no, we don’t get nasty winter storms at anywhere near the regularity as we do major hurricanes.
at least not this far south.

biggest problem is we do not insulate our natural gas pipelines ( industry lines)...the gas contains fluids (frak moister etc)...this with the extreme cold is causing big problems in our gas movement to the generators...fluids freezing in pipelines...

our coal generators use low grade coal with high moisture content...freeze problems again...

wind yeah a little problem but minimal...yall know europe runs major wind farms offshore in places like norway ( pretty cold there)

all engineering problems caused by cost reduction practices ...

but majority of the problems as a percent of energy is in the hydrocarbon industry..

regardless of politics...this should not have been able to happen... we are hurting..people making poor decisions resulting in death and serious damage...;(

The mayor of NYC has enough wind to blow life into thousands of windmills and then write a book about it.

Officials said that as of Wednesday, there are still 46,000 megawatts of power missing from Texas’ electric system -- 28,000 of those are from gas and coal power plants and 18,000 are from renewable sources such as wind and solar.
