I sort of get why elected officials don't want to freak people out.
JBE sent out an Emergency Alert to remind everyone of the stay at home order he put in place 2 weeks ago...on the same day he said the updated covid numbers would be “jarring”. He’s intentionally freaking people out

I think we have a strong potential to be in our current pattern until at least July, maybe August.... I have never wanted to be more wrong in my life....

Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of an “emergency alert”?
And that’s BS because the alert referenced the 4/30 stay at home order. Which a week ago was 4/19.

What’s the point of an emergency alert with a week delay? And when the announcement was made even before that?

Definitely not, prepare to stay home though the Fall.
We've set a dangerous precedent I'm not sure how we come back from without a vaccine/treatment.
Schools are the thing to watch, if they come back in May then it's a good sign. Sadly I think school is out for the year.
The question becomes, does this thing keep spreading around in August? BC if it does, the precedent we have already set is going to have disastrous results. How do you start a school year if people are still getting infected and dying?
Watch the school system and municipal buildings. That's a great litmus test for the rest of the economy. Restaurants and schools were closed first.

Not one has discussed any plan to start opening some businesses back up, slowly or otherwise.
This is my main issue there has been zero discussion or even lip service towards some pathway to loosen things up. All I keep hearing is we are gonna get through this, well no shite at some point it will end.

There are currently more people or at least more vocal people that want a shutdown. As more and more people are laid off and more and more people’s savings dry up, that will change.
The issue our dumbass media and politicians got us in is that instead of doing what is best, it’s gonna hit a point where we have to do what we have to do to prevent a depression and massive social unrest that leads to violence.
The government simply can’t afford people to stay at home. Changes will have to be maid. As said, hospitals can’t operate currently they are losing money.
Eta: there’s absolutely no reason people that had it can’t resume normal life. If you can get it again, we are fricked either way until a vaccine comes out. We aren’t waiting for a vaccine.

Wait, are you talking about the testing of notification or the actual alert that went out. I know that I received two alerts yesterday and one was listed as *TEST*.
Posted on 4/4/20 at 10:37 am to JBeam
No the alert that went out reiterating his stay at home order. It was earlier this week

Labor Day if we are lucky. And then there are a lot of things to sort out and still be careful of.

Especially when it's clear that we (Louisiana) have not approached the peak in cases and are likely looking at a situation where hospitals across the state will max out by next week.

There was an emergency alert sent on 4/2 that alerted people to a previously announced order.

I like that some of you are focusing on this. Correct, no one is literally locked into their home. However, if the restrictions are so great that your only options in many areas of the country are a walk around the neighborhood or a trip to home depot with a curfew in place then the effect is essentially the same.

The more I think about it, I don't think JBE will "allow it" I would not be surprised if he extends it again by 4/15.
He came out saying we need to do more to stop the spread. We weren't staying home enough... Then spoke about how Google is tracking our movements and we'll see the results. Google released initial reports indicating most people in LA were adhering to the Stay At Home orders.
Now JBE is saying we'll be at 2,500 people per day needing hospital beds by mid-May because we aren't following the orders. He is using fear and manipulation, and will use that to keep extending the deadline.
