10 is limit. Airports are not worth the stress

I wish there was a way to drive to a destination then fly home 1 way. I HATE long drives home after a trip.
I usually just fly private

Much of it depends on who all is going. Driving 10 hours with kids isn't fun. The bathroom stops, gassing up, meals, all take longer, and your kids will inevitably argue or fight with each other at some point. 4-5 hours is sort of my limit. Solo or with just my wife, I can drive all day. We drove from Birmingham to Port Canaveral one year for a cruise. The drive home wasn't bad because we got off the boat right after waking up and hit the road. But the drive down there, leaving after work and stopping at a hotel was terrible. Tired kids, driving at midnight, just wasn't worth it. And that was in a spacious minivan. Not long after that I drove to Baton Rouge in my old 2 door Jeep alone and was fine.

I drive if I'm going somewhere more than a week.

Flying commercial is equivalent to taking a bus now. The comparison thus is apple’s/orange’s.
Flying private is the equivalent to driving and 9/10 the obvious choice then depends on goal upon arrival.

4+ hours fly unless there is no airport within 30 minutes of my destination.

Flying sucks, but I'm not driving if flying is relatively easy.
We drove to Asheville to avoid mask hysteria, and it was 12 hours all said and done with wrecks, construction, and stops.
Baton Rouge flies direct to Charloette and it's 1 hour tops from Asheville. I'm never driving there again. Anything with a direct flight I'm flying, and bonus points if I can go out of Baton Rouge. BTR is so small that you avoid pretty much all of the bullshite of an airport.

I can drive all day, but a lot of it depends on how long I'm going to be gone, the cost of putting dogs in the kennel ($65-80 per night), and the price of the flight vs gas & hotels (if the drive is 2 days).
The dogs are also a huge consideration as they can stay home for a weekend trip (like to BR for LSU game) as they have access to part of the den, all of the enclosed patio, and the yard. They have enough food/water for that and I can throw them treats from the Furbo. My neighbors will play with them (my 91 year old next door neighbor will read to them through the fence). Anything longer... they go with me or go to kennel.
10 hours is about when I will stop... I drove to Omaha from Houston since I was going to be there the entire World Series, but in 17, I flew since I was up there for 2 days.

Yes, I like the freedom of driving, flying is a pain in the arse and feel like Cattle getting herded

I fly, but it is more based on frequency. I have to travel every other week, and the 5-10 hour drives add up. I'd rather sit on a plane and have a drink then deal with 50 long drives a year.

The answer to this should vary depending on the airport one would be flying from and the distance to said airport.
For example, I live in Los Angeles and am about 15 min from Burbank airport. It is a small airport with mostly regional flights. Security, traffic and parking are a breeze. I’d gladly fly out of there for anything that would be 3.5 hrs driving or longer (eg. Las Vegas).
Now, if I had to fly out of lax, I’d choose driving if the destination is within 6 hours or so drive time.

8-10 hours is usually my threshold to search plane tickets and make an economical decision vs comfort.

Depends on the location. My parents live 8 hours away. They used to live 36 hours away. I've driven from Denham to Pasco, WA through the southwest. Then back through the midwest. I enjoy driving. But anything over 11-12 hours is worth the flight for me. I'm going to the Keys for Thanksgiving. No chance I'm driving there. I'm flying to Miami, then driving to the Keys.

I prefer to drive a car or ride a motorcycle.
Not a fan of dealing with the Thousands Standing Around bureaucracy, airport parking, crowds and tiny seats.
I also find flying to be physically uncomfortable anyway.
Then you have transport issues on the other end.
I would much rather take my time and drive/ride.

I can tell you the planes were never half full on at least one of those, probably two

I always just take my private jet to anywhere over a 2 hour drive

Drive. You’d be a third of the way or possibly half way to your destination by the time you even board a flight then you have to rent a car or Uber everywhere.
