I have no hometown. Lived in Winnfield, Tampa, Tulsa, New Orleans and Memphis all before I completed the 6th grade. Since I graduated LaTech have lived in Tulsa 2 more times, KC,Ks, Gunnison, Co, Stillwater, Ok, Hot Springs, Ar, FtWorth, Tx, and middle of nowhere outside small town NWLA 2 times.

I grew up on the West Bank so frick no I don’t miss that dump. I can’t believe anyone willingly stays there.

I have the same feeling about BR too since I lived there 10 years.

I went to Atlanta as a young man and wanted to return the whole time I was there (3 yrs). I moved back to NOLA before my kids were in school and raised them around extended family and our local culture. Now neither of them live in New Orleans, dont appear to be headed back and are better off where they are. Do what is best for you/your immediate family.

Most here would consider my hometown a pretty shitty place. I have lived in several pretty stellar locations since moving away, but still miss thee place quite a bit every time I leave after a visit. I have decided that I will never again live farther than a reasonable distance to drive home for a weekend.

Grew up in New Orleans. After getting out the Marines, I didn't want to live there and moved to were my Mom was from. Small town, USA.

If they choose to live in La than they have nobody to blame but themselves.

My hometown is dying. I miss my parents but I’ve been gone for almost 30 years now so I don’t miss the town itself. I generally can only visit for a few days before needing to leave. Once my parents are gone, I probably won’t return.

I had the chance to go back to my home town after being gone for 20 years, small La town.

After about 8 months I packed my shite and got the heck out of that crap hole.

Nothing had changed a bit, still a bunch of run down old arse buildings, people all up in everyone's business.

He said she said gossiping nonsense about everyone in town

I think there’s definitely a unique tie to home if you are from a smaller town. Most people leave and don’t return.

In theory, I could possibly one day move back to Baton Rouge or New Orleans. It’s very unlikely I’d move back to the small town where I grew up though.

My parents know that. They actually encouraged my brother and I to work hard and push hard for a good career. They knew that meant we’d leave Louisiana.

I left my hometown to work and travel the world.

Will be retiring soon, and will retire to my hometown.

My hometown is NOTHING like when I grew up there. And our family has either passed away or moved away. I rarely visit and when leaving, I feel no guilt about leaving.

I live three hours away

Only time I feel bad is Christmas time, next year will be the first I don’t visit and feeling guilty that my mom would be by herself for the majority of it

As a kid, every time Dad got a promotion with one of the big oil companies we'd have to move to a new location. As you can tell, he was climbing that corporate ladder. (they moved again while I was at LaTech. Luckily they did give me the new address. LOL)

For me, opporknockity tunes and I move wherever that wind blows. No roots to tie me down, so off I go when I feel the costs < benefits. Great way to really see America and Americans from all walks of life and socioeconomic climates, in their native habitats.
