Dude it can’t be good for anyone to drink that much in the long run. It was perhaps meant for you to be as accountable as you put it. That’s my response.

Ultrasound of my liver a few day’s ago. My best days are behind me at mid 30s.
Quit really drinking a few months ago. It’s going ok. Don’t really miss it.

Well, I'm 43 and now 3-4 beers gives me a insane headache and hangover. I had my thyroid removed (cx) last year; I'm not sure if it's related to my incredibly low tolerance and adverse reaction, but for me, it's just not worth it to drink more than 1-2.
This is me minus the missing thyroid. Took a while, but I am done with getting migraines after more than two drinks. Sometime I will say frick it, having took much fun but it usually sucks arse the next day. Bottom line, I have no reason to really drink much anymore since the joy is completely outweighed by being miserable a few hours later and often the next day.

I was never much of a drinker but I started having 5-10 day severe hangovers after drinking 2-3 drinks when I was younger. That was about 20 years ago and I’d like to drink socially but it’s just not worth it.

Yesterday I signed up for the app DrinkersHelper. You answer a series of questions about your drinking issues and goals. Then it puts you in a chat group with people who match you. There are lessons and other features.

How old are you? You can get away with that shite in your twenties but it catches up with you as you get older.

Don't give him shite, the 20 advils will burn his liver out before the alcohol does.

Wrong side of 40 here. I got in to shape and was able to continue drinking 2-3 drinks per night. But I had to take off for awhile and condition myself. No drinking for 6 months while I got in to shape and got my numbers straight with no meds. When I started back again I drank far less because I get up and work out 5 days a week. Been 5 years since and I am great.
You need a lifestyle change baw. CrossFit works for me. Something else might work for you. But try something different, whatever it is.

I drink probably 4 or 5 beers a day. I stay away from liquor for the most part. Maybe on a Friday night I’ll take a shot of tequila. I get a tiny buzz and watch a game and go to bed and wake up at 6am every morning with no trouble at all. Always feel great. I’d honestly be more worried about people I work with that drink 3 and 4 Red Bulls a day. That shite CANT be good for you. Way worse than 3 or 4 beers.

Psilocybin, the psychoactive in "magic mushrooms" a lot of promise. However, you can't just go out and score shrooms. You need someone who is experienced in using mushrooms to treat addiction. Look for help in your area, if you can get to Denver, it's decriminalized and people are learning.
Never been an alcoholic but I've lived with it. From what I know, it's really tough for at least the first 4 weeks but if you get past the hell of alcohol detox you'll be able to stop. Long term success depends on the person.
At a minimum it would be very helpful to have some kind of medical support, I'd at least talk to your GP before going cold turkey.

Seems impossible to me
You’re not alone, many people think this way... But i don’t understand it... A few years back, i started to hate drinking all the time, having to worry about driving home and getting a DUI (or worse).. then dealing with hangovers all the time.. and add to that the long term effects you know you’re gonna have eventually.
To me , what seemed impossible was *continuiing* to drink.

Not meaning to...just if he’s 40 plus as was noted above...time for a lifestyle change. That can be a tough one to break though...especially during football season.

Kind of. Ask your doctor about naltrexone. It helped out a lot

Gout made me cut way back on the drinking. It’s nice to be free of the joint pain.

Had a benign meningioma tumor taken out my head back in June... been on anti seizure meds since... probably could have a drink but not gonna chance it... it’s not worth it
