frick your liver. Do what you love

ETA. Meant in sarcasm, but probably a bad joke. I have seen people at the end from liver failure and it is probably about the worst way you can go. I love alcohol, but it can be a tough line to toe, and hard to know what is fun and what is harmful. If you have doubts, probably best to trust your gut.

Well, I'm 43 and now 3-4 beers gives me a insane headache and hangover. I had my thyroid removed (cx) last year; I'm not sure if it's related to my incredibly low tolerance and adverse reaction, but for me, it's just not worth it to drink more than 1-2.
I am at a point where the costs outweigh the benefits so it's an easy choice for me.

I did it because death, divorce, and disease were ALL knocking on the door. I didn’t have a drinking problem, I had a stopping problem.

Pretty easy decision for me to make. Haven’t had a sip since 7/20/2016 and don’t miss it one bit.

Moderation if you can. If you are on the wrong side of 40 and still pounding six packs or more multiple times a week you'll stop or be stopped at some point.

If your consumption of alcohol is a significant hinderance to any important area of your life, you should learn to control said consumption.

If you can't do that, then you shouldn't drink alcohol.

It's very simple.

Good luck to you in your recovery process, it's not impossible.

Yeah no

My stepdad looked terrible there’s no other way I can think to put it. In his last few weeks four years ago he had to get his liver and midsection drained once a week because it wasn’t functioning. Poor guy swelled up with fluid otherwise and took on a jaundice look. I was 30 years old and it humbled me and rendered me speechless and very sad to see him try to get around like that. I never experienced any emotion like it. Even though I didn’t really like him I made my peace with him in those days as it was the Christian thing to do.

Be good to your liver.

My buddy had a couple heart issues from drinking. He just started smoking weed instead and is pretty content with it all.

Long as what you enjoy doesn’t involve chugging a fifth every night. There’s a reason that’s not mainstream.

Working in ICU and seeing people detox , pancreatitis, cirrhosis, cancer etc on a weekly basis. It wasn’t hard .To me aging is hard enough. I don’t want a chronic debilitating illness to go with it if I can help it .

Kratom isn’t bad either for the folks who hate the cannabis paranoia.
