If it works and helps the obese shed large amounts of weight it is a good thing. Will of them keep it off? No. Will some? Yes.

You have any idea on the side effects? Cancer risk, gut motility?

The people who take it don’t even workout so they look like shite when they’re done anyway because they lose lean mass

It’s supposed to have a faster weight loss (slightly) than Ozemoic and the other one. Most common side effect is constipation and headaches from not eating enough. You won’t be hungry so it will be important to eat 5 small snacks/meals throughout the day and increase your fiber intake greatly. Drink A LOT of water, as well. A magnesium/potassium supplement can help offset headaches from the lower carb intake that will happen naturally.

It’s important to use the first 4 months to make lifestyle changes. Since you won’t be as hungry or have food cravings, use that time to develop healthy, low calorie, well balances eating habits. Walk every single day. This will help with constipation as well as weight loss. Begin to introduce weight training, as well.

Congratulations on taking steps to lose the weight and make important lifestyle changes that will last well beyond the use of medicine.

A close relative is on it, has lost 70lbs in 9 months. GI side effects can be rough as they up the dosage. Also, depending on how the dr writes the script your insurance may or may not cover it. If covered it can be as little as $20 a month or if not around $800. I can vouch that even with diet and exercise this person struggle to lose any weight and this weekly shot has been a miracle worker. According to dr, once the goal weight is met she will continue a small dosage (will prob be ozempic instead of MJ) each month indefinitely. As others have pointed out, many people do gain the weight back once completely off unless lifestyle changes are implemented.

Been on it for 3 weeks and lost 18 pounds. The biggest difference is that I have ZERO cravings for sugar.

You have any idea on side effects of being significantly obese? The amount of medical problems caused by being overweight are astronomical.

So you’d advocate for fatties to take a medication with unknown side effects, for something that can be accomplished with a bit of willpower?

So, this thing curbs your appetite which leads to weight loss?

It sounds like your relative truly could not stop themselves at the table. When they get off the drug, will they revert back to their terrible eating habits?

My doctor says it's something to consider for almost everyone overweight.

It’s awesome. I dropped 45 lbs in 3 months. It works even better when mixed with ketogenic diet.

It's a diabetes drug and should be used only for people who suffer with diabetes. People who are taking it because the need to lose a few pounds because they are too lazy to exercise or eat too much but don't have diabetes, should be beaten .

That’s the plan for the continued small dosage from my understanding.

Lot of weight loss medicine threads around here lately

This place needs an AARP board. It’s not 2007 anymore.

Doesn’t this med essentially just curb your appetite?

What percentage of fatties do you think this really covers? My guess is single digit range.

My doc said so many fat people are using this drug for weightloss that diabetics are having a hard time getting it.

Try closer to $1,200 for a month supply. My mom was just prescribed it (on the first week) for being diabetic. She paid $40, and the cost without insurance was just under $1,200.

I haven't had time to look into it much, but it has killed her appetite. Her numbers were borderline diabetic. The doc prescribed it for a month and wants to re-do the bloodwork and check her sugar when she goes back next month. I'm not sure what to think about it, really. I'm kind of hoping the gameplan is to try to lower her blood sugar with this and then go with oral medication combined with diet changes. I don't know.
