Your diagnosis has to be correct or insurance may not cover if you are not a diabetic. There are certain criteria that has to be met like BMI, lab work abnormalities including lipids and glucose. I think many overweight people after a certain age can be considered pre-diabetic. Also I think once you hit Medicare it not covered regardless but I may be wrong. Also some insurers may cover Ozempic but not Monjourno or Wegovy.

Been on it about 8 months with legit blood sugar issue. I had to make that clear. This board loves to be mad at anyone who doesn’t lose weight the way they want you to.

Im down 40lbs and stopped taking it every week. Im only taking it every other week now because I lost too much. It is true that you do lose mass. If you don’t work out or anything, thats a con when it comes to this medicine.

You’re right, it’s the same as the Covid shot.

Be ready for the worst heartburn of your life. A common side effect of these types of meds.

I would be concerned that some unknown side effects might show up down the road, like fen-phen.
If someone is obese to the point their health is being impacted I suppose it would be worth the risk.

It also makes the body use insulin in a more efficient manner.

LoL. This thread went EXACTLY as I predicted. Good ole OT never changes.

Because what I said is a fact.

Your metabolism hasn’t slowed down, YOU have slowed down. You can’t eat the same way you did when you were younger because you’re doing much less physically than what you were doing.

My doctor says it's something to consider for almost everyone overweight.

Unless you have type 2 diabetes you won’t ever find out. Your doctor should know that

My dietician refused to put patients on that until they lost 30% or their weight loss goal by dieting and exercise. By the time I got to that point my diet had changed and I didn’t notice any differences so just kept with the diet and exercise.

I lost 20 pounds in two months with Ozempic. My daughter has lost 30 pounds with Monjaurno in three months. They do work but half the time my stomach aches. I also feel tired a lot.

People with normal hormone function do not know what it is like to never be satiated with a meal. I am diabetic as a result of sever pancreatitis and ever since then I had eaten more and more. Your cells are smart enough to know they need glucose but are too dumb to know you are not making enough insulin to store all the glucose that is already in your blood in your cells so they secrete hormones to tell your body to eat. IT SUCKS.

We went out for lunch today. I ate half my baked potato, half my 12oz steak, half of my green beans and a piece of bread. Before I would have eaten a full 16oz steak, the entire potato, still all the green beans and probably enough bread for a family of 4 because I just wouldn't feel full, EVER.

My doctor put me on Ozempic to try to get my A1C to the new goals (which is 5.7 now...) and I have been hoovering around 7. I also get to take less insulin less often reducing the amount of shots by A LOT. Losing a few pounds is just an extra side effect, the biggest improvement is quality of life in not being hungry all the time. I don't snack anymore, ever and I use to get 3 solid snacks in, one after each breakfast, lunch and dinner. It wasn't lack of self control, it was my body producing hormones to MAKE ME EAT.

It wasn’t self control, your hormones just made your legs stand up and walk your arse to the kitchen to get a snack

Count your calories, and don’t budge on your calorie budget. After a while your body will get used to eating less. If you get a craving, but don’t want to blow your budget drink water or black coffee.

Or, just blame your hormones and take a medication to solve your issue

I have been on MJ for 2 months, I've lost an additional 15 lbs, I say additional because I am down 55 lbs since I was diagnosed the type 2 4 years ago. Actually getting diabetes may be the best thing that ever happened to me, it forced me to make a decision, lose weight, exercise or go the insulin route, I chose the former.

MJ itself takes away my appetite as well as my desire for any alcohol. I do get occasional nausea, but temporary and mild. I also noticed that I have to eat much more slowly, 3x in the last month I ate too quickly and more than what MJ wants me to eat, it comes back up, not pleasant.

I have been hitting the gym 3x a week since I started MJ, not sure it helps much with the weight loss, but I have a lot more energy.
