Was recommended by a friend of mine. Supposed to be a huge aid in developing communication skills such as public speaking which I severely lack.

I have never heard of it until today and been doing some research and it seems legit.

Any OTers members of it?

I have a friend who did it and he seemed to get a lot out of it.

It's kind of a cheesy event but can be a decent networking and speaking practice opportunity.

It's basically immersion therapy for people that fear public speaking. It did wonders for the folks I know that did it.

Guy I worked with at the power plant was into it. He did seem to move up the corporate ladder pretty quickly. It's all about public speaking, I believe, which is a real problem for many people.

No, but that’s exactly what it does. More you do public speaking the easier it gets tho.

My friend's former father-in-law was in it. I found out this fact during the wedding period (I was a groomsman), when the guy always wanted to speak up and 'hold court' at the events-- the rehearsal dinner, the reception, even the after-party.

It’s good for practicing speeches/presentations. They will track any negative tendencies you have and help you improve. There is also an extemporaneous portion that helps you think on your feet like in a meeting.

You also get to listen to a lot of speaking styles and help others improve there speaking which overall helps you.

All the socially awkward people at my company love it.

I knew someone that took part in the group. He had very positive things to say about it. He went on to be the public relations director for his employer. I think it worked well for him.

I did it about 7-8 years ago. It's really helpful with just getting over public speaking jitters. I recommend it.

I did it for a while a few years back when I got placed in a fast track program with my employer. I've never been nervous with public speaking but I'm very socially awkward. It helped me learn to project myself better converse more fluidly.

Its can be cheesy, but if you need it it works.

Right here!!

It has been a game changer for me at work for not only developing my communication skills, but also my leadership skills. I’ve been in it since taking my first salary job, and I have seen lots of improvement in myself.

Everyone at my club has seen improvement after consistently going to meetings on a weekly basis. This includes people of all age groups in case you were wondering.

Give it a shot and always participate even if you are uncomfortable. You’d be surprised at how many people are too shy to go up and talk in front of everyone about casual things.

It’s worth noting my club and many others have moved toward virtual meetings via Zoom, so I’m sure you can find a club in your area to attend as a guest to see for yourself.

It helped me tremendously in my professional career. Gave me confidence to speak up about important things in my workplace and allowed me to become much more creative in my business communication and approach.
Can’t hurt anyone to try it. Not very costly at all.

Most large companies have this internally, mine does but I do not attend.

Supposed to help you gain confidence for speaking to crowds, groups or publicly.
