Learned about this last year when someone at my wife's work told her they were having to do it. It sounds crazy but fixed a reoccurring issue that had put in the hospital several times.

re: Pentair Multi-colored Microbrite Pool Lights

Amazon sells some do it yourself ones online for around $400 a light. The issue with the LED lights is that the casing, light and wiring are all one unit. There is no changing a bulb, so you have to pull out the wire and fish the new line back to a transformer for each light.
I'm not sure how everyone decided to switch over to LED for pool lights when they are 100Xs more expensive and go out after a couple years. They are supposed to be rated for 10,000+ hours, but the casings don't hold up.

Prepare to drop a couple grand every few years. There are some compatible brands with 3 year warranties, so you can get 5-6 years out of a purchase.

Party in power has lost seats all but 3 times in the last hundred years, and we were at war for two of those elections. FDR ‘34, Clinton ‘98 and Bush ‘02.

re: Bill Gates — Climate change will not lead to demise of humanity, it’s time to end the doom
Posted by MamouTiger65 on 10/28/25 at 8:52 am to loogaroo
Bill has a lot of time and money invested in modern nuclear power. With more people opening up to nuclear and the need growing due to data centers, this is very advantageous time for him. By shifting the focus to investing in long term solutions, he can sell his power plant designs without losing the backing of his environmental allies. He was very close to selling several power plants to China in Trump's first term, but then Trump blocked the ability to do that with China.
At least he is coming out and telling the truth that climate change isn't going to wipe out mankind any time soon. It would be nice if more people could stop with hyperbole and have more common-sense conversations on how to grow and prosper while also being good stewards of our environment.

re: Republicans should start a fund to promote right wing causes worldwide.
Posted by MamouTiger65 on 7/5/25 at 7:33 pm to Roaad
According to Mike Benz, there were left wing and right wing factions in USAID. One of the examples he gave was the right wing manipulated an LGBTQ group into staging a coup in Bangladesh. There was also an example of causing a race riot and strike in West Africa to prevent China from building a port there.

Well LSU sold 24 of them yesterday for $500 a piece to raise NIL money. I doubt you would get much of that money back trying to sell it on the market.

I live just outside of Prairieville and have seen them several times. They aren't hanging around the feeders, they just come get food and move on.
re: Southwest ending free checked bags

I was recently looking to book an international flight for my family. I was surprised that all of the major airlines were now charging ~$150 to check a bag for an international flight. On top of that, you can't pick your seats when purchasing main seats. You have to pay for an upgrade seat which was around $250 per person more in order to pick your seats. Overall, it added around $2K for the flight. It feels like the fee-based discount airline model has won.

Teams Premium give you a transcript, recap notes and next steps at the end of each recorded call. It also makes the call searchable by topic, chapter or person speaking, so you can quickly go back to a point in the meeting and listen to the call. It also does this if you are just an invitee on a recorded call even if you do not attend the meeting. Getting that end of meeting recap for calls I cant attend has been helpful to me for keeping up with what my team is working on.
re: Anyone have experience with slate or brick flooring?

I like the brick floor look. Not sure how hard it would be to change out in the future if you ever got tired of the look.
Slate can be slippery when wet. I'm not sure if that would cause problems in the kitchen.

While I do believe it is up to parents to raise their children and enshrine their religious beliefs in their own children, I also think the left has gone too far with expanding the establishment clause.
I believe the establishment clause was clearly created to prevent a future version of the Church of England where the state controlled all matters of church and state, and wasn’t meant for the state to enforce a secular agnostic state where any mention of a religion has to be removed.
The term separation of church and state doesn’t even appear in the constitution. The modern use of this comes from a 1947 case based on writings of Thomas Jefferson stating there should be a wall of separation between church and state. Again, I believe given the historical context this has to do with a situation like the Church of England where people were brutally forced to adopt the new religion to appease the king.
