Anyone ever experience significant USPS delays?

Our company sent out a bunch of various mail on July 12th, including about 25 checks payable to suppliers (for those that don't accept ACH). None of the checks have cleared yet, which is unusual as they typically start clearing after 2-3 business days.
Our local post office mentioned that they've been getting numerous complaints over the past three weeks about the 'distribution center' that the mail is routed through.
Has this ever happened to anyone? Does the mail eventually arrive? Or does all of it just get lost completely?

Your checks are probably "delayed" into the local sewer drains.

The branch where my business PO Box is located has a 1.5 star rating on google and yelp.

I had several payments not arrive when they should have. All were mailed on the same day at the same post office. I had to go back and ask them to look to see if they were misplaced somewhere in the P.O. They said they couldn't find them anywhere; four letters gone with no explanation. Close to two weeks went by and I had made other arrangements for payment.
Miraculously, 3 or so days after I had them look, all the letters reached their destination. Someone screwed up and didn't want to admit it.

I manage the shipping portion of a family business and so I have very good data on USPS packages. The business ships ~10K packages a year with USPS. A little better than 99.9% are flag with what we call no errors, delivered within 1 day of expected delivery and no customers complaints of misdelivery or damage. Of those most are just 2-5 days late. We do get about 2 "lost" packages a year which we replace when the delivery window is missed by more than 7 days, we don't attempt to track them past that point and let the customer know if they receive two just keep both of them. I did have one customer a few years but let me know the original item we sent arrived 9 months after it was shipped.
Once in a long while we have an entire bag of packages seem to sit in a sort center for a couple of days but they "always" get moving. I would contact the vendors and let them know what is going on and specify a time to recut checks. My experience with USPS is great overall but we are shipping from business to business address so there is less likelihood of misdelivery which is often peoples complaints about USPS.

My experience with the USPS hasn’t been great, but what’s even worse than their delivery service itself is actually going to one of their branches to try and mail/ship something.. there are certain things that can only be sent USPS (not UPS or FedEx) and for me, if you have to stand in line to get insurance/tracking- the lines and general incompetence have gotten to be as bad as the DMV, at pretty much every location i’ve tried.
I have to go to a post office soon to renew my passport (apparently that’s the only way you can renew, someone please let me know if there’s another option)- and i’m already dreading it.

When we lived in New Orleans, I ordered a pre-cooked Old Virginia ham. It was USPS 'delayed' and never did show up. The shipper mailed a second ham, also pre-cooked. It was also delayed, and never did show up.
The third time, they used UPS, it wasn't pre-cooked and it came in a timely fashion.
More recently a check mailed to me from my broker in Houston didn't arrive for three weeks. They sent a second one by Fed Ex overnight. Arrived the next day. that first check? Arrived six weeks after it was mailed, but it hadn't been crushed or mutilated in transit, it looked as pristine as the day it was mailed. I still wonder where it vacationed?

The USPS sucks balls. I’m in Ascension Parish and if you mail anything to certain parts of the parish the frickin’ mail HAS to be routed through New Orleans. Let that ignorant shite sink in. So, if you’re mailing something from, say Geismar to Sorrento, chances are good it has to go all the way to New Orleans just to be sent all the way back to the same area it just came from.
Typical federal government bullshite that’s a waste of time and taxpayer money.
At my business, we’ve had mail marketing materials sent out and finally returned to us because the customer moved, not exaggerating, 6-8 months later and it was addressed to someone in Ascension!!
Pathetic to say the least.

I'll add a sidenote to this...
USPS may deliver packages and mail but not necessarily to the right addresses.
They had a really bad problem with this in my previous neighborhood, especially when the house numbers are the same on three parallel streets.
Even then, I've had packages go missing that turned up months or years later... when my neighbors moved and decided "Oh, yeah, need to give them their misdirected mail before we leave."
TLDR - USPS seems to be too incompetent to even sort mail correctly.

I've mailed stuff to the west coast and it's gotten there in two days. I've mailed stuff across town and it's still in limbo a month later. Not limited to the postal service. UPS allegedly delivered a package to my house last Thursday. It never arrived and no one can tell me what happened to it.

Where do you live? There’s a passport office in the LSU Student Union. By appointment only.
There’s also a Cox Communications ... with none of the trash at a regular Cox location.

We’ve tracked packages that have arrived in Baton Rouge and then been sent to Chicago, New Jersey, etc. before being sent back to Baton Rouge.
Had letters never get delivered.

So much so that now I expect it.

You can renew your passport via mail. Ironic isn’t it. Download application. You’ll send it in along with money and your 2x2 picture. Had mine within a week or two.
