You can renew your passport via mail. Ironic isn’t it. Download application. You’ll send it in along with money and your 2x2 picture. Had mine within a week or two.
Yes, but that entails going to the post office and, since you are required to mail your current passport along with the forms & picture- you *have* to get insurance and tracking, which entails waiting in line at the post office, which is what i was trying to avoid in the first place... Question for you though: You said it only took you a week or two to receive yours, did you pay the extra fees for the expeditied service?
Also a poster above mentioned that LSU has a passport office; thanks for that, but it’ll probably be a while before i’m back in BR.

USPS may deliver packages and mail but not necessarily to the right addresses.
Of course, we track this and have found that issue for us is minuscule. However, everything we ship as a company and any packages I ship personally has both bar codes and QR codes which reduces misdelivery significantly.
"Last-mile" delivery has more to do with the actual carrier/delivery person than the company structure (except hiring and retention). We are very lucky that both our homes have excellent USPS/UPS/Fed Ex carriers and the only thing I can think of that was misdelivered in the last couple of years was a postcard from our Vet last year saying one of our pets was due for their checkup, it was delivered to my next-door neighbor and they brought it over that evening.
I know the USPS gets a lot of hate but we have not seen the issue and spend over $100k with them every year shipping all the packages that are quicker and cheaper than by using UPS.

I received back a birth announcement for my daughter in March marked Return To Sender undeliverable.
She was born in November........ of 2011. It was postmarked Dec 18, 2011 and stamped undeliverable on March 16, 2019.
My soon to be 8 year old daughter thought it was funny to see her birth announcement in the mail.
