Yes, when we lived in ascension parish i was summoned about 6 times we lived there from 2003-2018. my wife was never called - ever. number 7 occurred while we were putting the house on the market - so i called the DA's office ? (i cant remember its been so long ago), And they removed me because we were moving.

On a side note i wrote the sherriff an email about his deputies issuing ridiculous tickets in Pelican Point (21 in a 18 zone) while refusing to issue tickets to kids in golf carts that were speeding and not stopping at stop signs. The deputy claimed that the golf carts were "off limits". The sherriff stated that was never said etc. So I called his department out via email. Shockingly the ticket was pulled but i swear that's when the jury summons started. lol

I’m 55. I’ve always wanted to be on a jury. I’ve never been summoned.

Called 4 times. Sat on 2 juries. Both should have been settled. Greed got them to trial. Both times the greedy and their lawyers went home pissed.

There is always at least 2 extremely stupid people in every jury.

Show up with a confederate flag belt buckle and a Malcolm X shirt and talk to yourself a lot.

My wife gets summoned every couple years. This past year, she had Federal and local parish jury duty on the same day. It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

ETA: my wife gets summoned about the same time as much as I do, however because she is a stay home mom there’s a check box for that, she can send it in and be good to go , doesn’t have to show up

Presumably she is a level headed bae, why wouldn't she want to serve her community? If you have only rugrats choosing your fate, we're screwed.

Served on a jury last February in federal court. Felon in possession of a firearm. Ended up in a mistrial.

Got another summons about five months later. Here (Mobile, AL) you don’t have to serve if you’ve been selected the previous two years. Filled out the summons and let them know I just served. January of this year, I got another one and informed them that was three in less than a year (all federal court). Got an email from them about two months ago saying I wasn’t in the pool for selection. Not sure why I got that email. Seems that they can hardly wait for my two years to be up, so I can serve again.

Got selected for district court jury about a year before serving on the federal side. They put us into groups on Monday and sent us home. Had to check the next several days, but never got called in and they released our group.

Only other time I served in jury duty was about thirty years prior. Doctor knocked up his much younger patient and a twelve man jury took about twenty minutes to come to the conclusion (with DNA evidence) that he was the father. There were a couple of twists and turns in the case, like the young lady was also sleeping with the doctor’s son.

I told them I thought doctors should be protected from all law suits. They got all perked up and asked what if a loved one was injured by malpractice. I started to tell them how I think medical errors should be handled and they dismissed me before I barely got started.

Depending on the severity of the malpractice, medical professionals could be:

A- retraining.

B- loss of license

C- Prison

We would need to start pumping out doctors in this country. So, anyone who gets an A in high level biology, or whatever is determined to be indicative of a prime candidate, would receive free (paid by hospitals and or tax payers) medical school for specialties in demand.

I think most would agree losing your license is a more suitable punishment than some insurance company paying millions. It would also reduce the cost of medical care, probably.

Moved to Houston 4 years ago and have been summoned twice already. The case was settled before court each time, but my dad grew up in Houston and lived there until his late 20s and got summoned once lol. One of the requirements is being able to understand English, so that eliminates almost half the city.

I’ve been summoned twice, both for federal court, and I didn’t have to go either time. My SiL once served on a grand jury and had to go to the court house once a week for a year or something like that.

Yes I’ve been called 3 times. Sat on a personal injury trail once. This lady was suing a trucking company that was at fault for a car accident. She was asking for 5.5 mil due to needing a back surgery. We decided that amount of money was insane given she was fully capable of still working. We gave her 1.8 mil. Very cool experience being on a jury though.

I also have learned what to say and not to say during selection, if you do NOT want to be on a jury lol.

Just be educated and they will dismiss you. Lawyers want impressionable people who lack critical thinking skills

I've been summoned 4 times here in the 19th.

The last three times it was a 3 year stretch where the called me once a year.

The last time I told them not to call me again and they haven't.

My wife has never been called.

Watch these peckerwoods call me next week. I'll tell 'em that I have the covid.

I've been called more for federal than local. I have been called for federal jury three times and local once. And I got out of the local because I had just moved out of the county and just hadn't updated my voting registration yet.

Got dismissed from one federal and the other two apparently settled. So I have never actually sat on a jury.

I've been called 4 times only once went to jury selection, I was culled out after the first round of questioning because I had been a victim of a crime.

My son was called to a federal grand jury last year. He's a type 1 diabetic and they would not excuse him. He ended up being an alternate but never got called to fill in.
