Headed there today with my 12 year old. I truly don’t know what to expect except bankruptcy.

Kids will have a blast
Coaches are stuck with the kids 24/7
Parents get to hang out, explore the area when games aren't being played
Parents have to sit in the designated areas down the foul lines in the outfield, away from the players, coaches, and umpires
Games may be played at any time 1AM is not unheard of
Make time to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
Kids will have at least 1 free day from pool play

The year we went, Carrolton out of New Orleans won the championship. The winning pitcher, Kade Anderson

Do kids still stay with host families during these trips?

When my nephew was playing Babe Ruth ball with JPRD East, their 13 y/o season tournament was up in Little Rock, one of the host families mom they stayed with was hot AF. All the dads wanted their kid to stay with them..

“Parent dugouts” suck. Terrible angle. You cannot see anyone else’s game without entering their parent dugout. 10 foot fence engulfs the entire field. Outfield is perfect homerun distance for 12 year olds.

Summer weather in Cooperstown is awesome. The pizza place outside the ballpark is not good. Evening Cookouts at someone’s rental house makes for great memories.

The whole baseball experience is awesome. They are experts at running this tournament.

It was quite a while ago, but just a cool arse place. My advice, don’t let cost ruin something really cool for you and your boy. Money is just a tool, no more important than a hammer. Use it accordingly, and this is one of those times.

Enjoy the entire little town. Get a burger or a dog, check out the little shops, buy something for you and your kid, be blown away by the HOF, and have fun.

One of our team dads went twice with his oldest. Said it's an awesome experience. We're planning to go there in 2 years.

Yea 200 foot fences. Lots of kids hit their first home runs there.

I like the idea of renting houses next to other parents and being able to enjoy the evenings without the kids.

If you take all baseball related things away from Cooperstown, it is still a truly amazing small town to visit. Surrounded by hills/mountains and the finger lakes. It's like a small town out of a movie. It's awesome.

i stayed on a rental on the lake, only one window unit in the house and it was really hot a couple of the days

our team gave up 18 home runs in one game, including 6 consecutive

mix of rec teams and super loaded teams - so crazy lopsided scores

I was checking a game the other day because their matchup affected our seeding/bracket. Sent this screenshot to my buddy and said OT would have a field day with that name.

That was our experience 3 weeks ago. You'll see a lot of 20-2 scores. You'll have majors teams playing bad double A teams.

I do like all the kids getting to hit homeruns, but it kind of sucks when two good teams play each other and you get homeruns that should be pop outs on a normal field. There were plenty of hits we saw that were clear homeruns, or at least line drives that would be at least a double on most fields, but we played one game where the other team hit 7 homers, and 6 of them cleared the fence by less than 10' on normal looking pop ups.

All in all it's still a great experience for everyone involved. Don't like that the boys stay in the barracks the whole time. All they do inbetween games is sit in their bunks and play on their phones. And they don't sleep well at all most of the nights. I think it would have been a lot more enjoyable if the kids were at the lake houses with their parents. We had 3 houses with 5 families all within walking distance of each other. The one day we kept the kids for the night and they got to play on the lake was the best day out there.

Does anyone have a comparison of Cooperstown Dream vs. Cooperstown All Star Village?
