Why live in Lakeview anyway ? You get all the NOLA bullshite without any of the charming culture. Its not like you can walk to everything you need like parts of The Uptown, Mid City, Bywater. You aren’t on a parade route or have street cars. You still have to take a $20 Uber to get to places. Might as well live in Metairie.

I'll never understand this. Living in Lakeview is practically living in Metairie, but you have to deal with the bullshite parts of living in Orleans parish. If you're going to live in New Orleans, at least live somewhere where you get the benefits of living in New Orleans (Uptown, Mid City, etc...).

ETA: before I get accused of being a "NLA idiot", I lived Uptown on the parade route for 4+ years.

Latoya was busy crafting a plan utilizing best practices that she learned in Ghana to curb juvenile crime.

Hasn't been the same since Katrina. Nor will it ever be. It is a shame.

only department that didn’t show up was anyone from the mayor’s office

Probably the only section of New Orleans where 100% of the residents are tax payers. I don't understand why the mayor wouldn't want to at least try?

What is the Metairie equivalent to Harrison Ave.? And for someone with young kids, LV provides more "benefits" than Uptown or Mid City. There are six families on my block with kids in grade school, I'm not getting that in most other areas of NOLA.

It's far from perfect, but to say its a shitbox compared to Uptown or Mid City is a leap.

As someone who has lived in Lakeview, Downtown, and Uptown, I agree with this.

Because:

-It's less crowded than other parts of the city like Uptown, is close to the lakefront and City Park, and is generally safer than other parts of Orleans (which is why people are upset at the recent increase in car break-ins).

-It's closer to New Orleans attractions than Metairie and other suburbs.

-It's cheaper than Old Metairie, even with the tax difference.

-Not everyone wants to live on a parade route.

we all know that doesn't exist, however, like I mentioned earlier, you are really only realizing the benefit of Harrison if you are within the first 3 blocks between Canal and Orleans. That's like 5% of Lakeview.

The nicer parts of Metairie are the same way, plenty of families where I live, and I can drive to Harrison just like most Lakeview residents have to

Is that before or after you add in all the car window replacements?

If you live north of I-10 in Lakeview then you can walk to Harrison no problem.

After

In ten years in the Lakeview area, I've never had a car break in and I am not aware of any on my block. There were more that occurred on my block in the ten years I lived in Old Metairie than where I live now.
