Boarded up the windows, razor wired the yard and got out of town like any other sensible person would. They are a disease

Some of the comments under the Nola.com said they were boycotting the fest bc Target is a sponsor and several chimed in agreeing. I don’t know what Target did this time to upset anyone. I thought Target leans left.

Sounds like Target is in that dead zone politically like Tesla where they’ve somehow managed to piss off both parties.

I read an article about this the other day. Apparently ticket sales are way down. It made me wonder whether many people/vendors are pulling out because they’re not being financed anymore by the scam that was USAid. Not at all sure – just a thought.

Yes similar to what I was thinking.

Essence crowd isn't bad. It's the local hoodrats coming out that ruin everything.

This. We never have any issues this weekend in our businesses. Good people in town and usually spend a lot of money. Not a good thing that ticket sales are way down. Jazzfest has been trending down as well and it is hurting tax dollars.

This is a big part of the reason why. Plus NOLA is way overhyped and its best days are behind it.

We did a food tour yesterday and the guide was talking about the festival, black women says “you need to tell the white people, they probably don’t know what you’re talking about”. I was like, nope, don’t care really.

He goes on to say how some places “renovate” to close down and how every black owned restaurant will have a two plus hour wait.

I thought there was just a lot of black tourists in New Orleans. We’ve enjoyed our week here, great food and everywhere you go there is another thing that makes me do a double take.

Every local seems to smoke cigs and weed smell is everywhere.

When i bartended in nola we added $1 to all of the go to beverages and at the end of the night they ran the tape and paid us that in tips. It made everyone willing to even work. And it was a great plan for all.

Bunch of vendors pulled out
Apparently essence fest wants to control everything
Wouldn’t be shocked if this festival is on its last legs
The lineup is terrible this year for concerts

I’ve heard stuff like this about several festivals in the past two years. Much more expensive for the permits, etc and more red tape.
Not worth it for vendors.

Supposedly Target is going pro military and ‘Murica, pissing off progs. I’d say it’s a tad bit too late.
