Yes and no, we lost our first buyer in all this mess.
Had to drop our price, had way less showings than before the virus. But we still got an offer and are back under contract.
You have people not wanting to look at houses, you have people who have temporarily lost their jobs who can probably afford a home but will never get financing due to employment. Some agents are not working.
But overall its kind of at a stand still.
Its not the ideal time for the market buying or selling, but its still happening.

It looks like - in most major markets - there are still more buyers than homes for sale, so prices and sales are holding pretty well.
This probably isn’t the case in places where oil field baws make up 70% of the market.

I’m guessing that you’ll see a lot of pending sales not go through for people who have either lost their job or do not feel that they may have a job after the stimulus payments run out.

My wife works for a real estate title company and they are busy as ever. The interest rate is way low right now and between refinances of existing loans, tax sales, regular sales, etc. they are working hard.

The market around BR is still pretty descent. I do expect it to slow this week moving forward. This time of year is normally really busy.

I talked to an inspector Friday on one of my jobsites and he said they plan on staying open but that could change at any moment I suppose. I’m sure we’ll get an email from the parish today at some point with any updates.
ETA: the permit office is closed but you can still do everything online

I’m in the middle of closing right now. Loan officer said she’s been slammed with all the refinancing. House were still being listed, but not nearly at the rate they were when this first started kicking off in the US.

My guess, is slowed. Figure that undetwriting units at major banks have probably scaled back. Appraisers will be at the ready as will some title companies but, the courthouses where the filing is done are closed or on a skeleton crew....under La. Civil code, If I remember, you have to file it within 10 days.
