Most likely.
I know for the office jobs in the plant down in Plaquemines parish they wanted people to be there five days a week. The traffic getting down there was a big time cluster frick until recently and is now just normal shitty.

I wouldn't move to LC or Belle Chasse, but they are paying quite a bit more than everyone else it seems. Not sure if sustainable.

I worked there for a few years, in both Cameron and Port Sulphur (Plaquemines LNG). Some of the groups within the company seem to be better than others so it may depend on which group (operations, projects, etc) you would be working with.

Their upper management is a lot different than the other oil/gas companies I’ve worked with and I’ve worked with some higher ups in Houston at a few different large to major oil/gas companies. Just be prepared for a different experience than you are used to probably coming from chemical companies.

Yeah no doubt. The 100% paid insurance is very nice as well.
I heard during construction this past year, they were paying welders $45 an hour ST and some very good per diem. Of course they had to do that because there was almost no where to stay.

I did 4.5 years for the first project in Cameron. Commuted from Lake Charles. Hour each way and I’ve heard it’s only gotten worse, maybe 1.5 hours now. VG is incredibly aggressive and gets what they want.

If you want more money and can put in 50-60 hours weekly, then jump in for 3-4 years. LNG experience is in serious demand and not many with it.

The drive is a killer, but seeing a $20B project go up is very interesting and not something many people get to see.

I would agree - one mega project early on sets you up for the rest of your career.

I would be shocked if they weren’t paying welders even more than that. PLNG has basically reset the industrial construction labor market for the whole state.

Demand for LNG Energy will be solid for the foreseeable future

Data centers are resorting to natural gas powered facilities because it can't be done with renewables alone and no one wants coal

Tariffs on solar panels from China will also shift things more toward LNG based electricity generation if I had to take a swing at it

I am seriously considering it. It's a lateral move position wise, but it's a heck of a lot more money it sounds like.

I hate the drive but Waze says exactly a hour from me.

Looks like I might be down to clown. Every one I talked to had great things to say. I guess so if they all swimming in money.

It took me an hour and 15 min from Lake Charles, near the casinos. 1.5 hours or slightly more during peak construction on CPLNG project. Traffic would back up in Cameron and was slow moving.

If you don’t mind sharing, is the job with operations or with the project group?

Project group it looks like. It's direct hire and not contract. They claim to retain once execution is finished.

Any insight would be helpful.

I’m happy to talk with you DiamondDog, let me know how to contact.

I’m building another LNG in the area now, second time around should be easier…

Do you have to live in LC/Cameron? I am in Houston in the upstream side and have had enough, hate the city and underpaid for the stress and living in this concrete jungle.

Despite paying well and having good benefits, VG seems to cycle through a lot of people in certain groups I've worked with. They seem to expect their people to work a lot of hours, but compensate them well for it, so just know what you are getting yourself into.

Just pack a cooler each morning with a tall boy. Sit back and sip during the slow ride back home.

I think if AI takes off as expected and all these giant data centers get built the need for natural gas will only continue to climb. I’ve been investing thinking that will occur.

Data centers overall are about 3% of global electricity consumption. Stop drinking the AI Kool Aid. Prices are going to continue to go up because of regulatory activities and the suicidal push for net zero from Europe, not because there are a few thousand more racks of NVIDIA installed around the world.
