Your Mom enjoys me rocking her chair.

She makes sounds like a very happy gerbil when I hit that ancient cervix.

Her warm-up procedure is admittedly arduous.

Haven’t eaten there in 5-6 years. I prefer my own cooking to overpaying for mediocre food.

Ever since they changed the way they battered their chicken tenders, I’m out!

The one in Mandeville stays busy but yes, the quality across the country has declined on some of the breakfast plates and yes you can even screw up breakfast.
Cold biscuits, runny grits runny eggs

Stopped at Waffle House in Ruston recently. Clean, well run and no complaints on the breakfast.
Quick service and on the road !!!

Places like this can only be judged by the quality of their biscuits

I might be in the minority I know, but I’ve never cared for their breakfast.

I’d rather just eat at Waffle House.

It was crap to begin with. Bland food up and down the menu. It caters to old farts just like Piccadilly. You're paying for the atmosphere, not the eating experience. Gimme waffle house any day of the week.

I actually got to meet the founder/Original CEO of Cracker Barrel a couple of months before he retired. That was around 20 years ago...they then turned things over to Woodhouse, who did an ok job with it. He retired around 2011. In my opinion, that is when things started to decline. Sandra Cochran started things into a downward spiral, and it's continued on past when she was ousted in 2023. The new CEO is cut from the same cloth and doesn't seem like an improvement to me.

BTW...Next Thursday will be the company's 55th anniversary.

It's been probably a year or so, but last time the fried catfish and smothered green beans were still tasty.

I ate at one in Pearland, Texas for breakfast a few months ago and found what I ordered to be pretty good.

Tried to go a few days ago to get rid of a gift card I received.

Half the sections were closed and they wanted me to wait 10 min for a seat.

Was not a peak time either.

I left.

Yes.

Actually used them for Thanksgiving 2 years ago and was very impressed by the quality of the food.

We used to eat at Cracker Barrels once or twice a month, especially when travelling. However, around 2015-16, we began having to always wait at least 20 minutes for a table regardless of time of day or location. Not worth the wait every time. So it's been about 8 years.

We travel a lot, and I can say the breakfast plates are still good. Would rather Waffle House if asked though.

Never cared for their pancakes. They were always tough. Dennys and IHOP are better.

Declining quality combined with aging restaurants (in aging neighborhoods) without a lot of investment in new locations.....

That's not a good combination.

The cornbread muffins still rock. I bought a dozen a couple of months back. Too damn hot to fire up the oven in the house.

Otherwise, their decline is real based on a visit a couple of years ago . Very meh.

Meetoo my local CB breakfast is awesome, tempted to throw down road spikes to keep the OT ballers away.

Like any chain or franchise restaurant, no two are exactly the same. The one closest to me in middle TN has been fine for years. Knowledgeable servers, competent management and I’ve never had a bad meal or a bad experience there.
