Not sure if I wanna drive or fly. I’d like to see Canada and all the scenery, but don’t wanna be too tired to hunt when I arrive.

Where would you be driving from? And how much time you got?

Where are you going in alaska? There are many places you can’t drive to.

I drove to Alaska from a project I finished I Richmond, CA (Bay Area) and returned to N.O. through the Canadian Rockies. I took about 4 months because I figured I may never get back up there again.
Having a vehicle is great because there's so much to see and you can be flexible with your itinerary, if you have the time.

When I was at LaTech in '82 and '83 a guy named Sam Adams from Kenai used part of the money the state of Alaska gave residents just to attend a college, any college back then, to buy a used T-Bird.
He drove it back home for the summer break 1983 and then he fell in love with a home girl and stayed.
Only there was one problem. The funds he used for school and the car were 100% a gift from the state ONLY if he graduated. Since he dropped out he had to repay + interest.

My father and uncle drove the ALCAN Highway years ago, and I’ve always wanted to make that trip too. I’ll likely just wait a couple of years and take the high speed rail though lmao.

Drove to Alaska twice from here. It’s very cool and worth it. Once it was during the summer solstice so the sun barley went away. Soooo weird
To Anchorage btw

Yes, twice...
The frost heaves in the roads are issues on cars with low clearances and tight suspensions...
Pickup trucks are fine...
I think get the ferry to Haines, drive up through Canada to Tok...
The long drive is fine, but it's nonstop 5 days...
Edmonton is a cool town to stop for a couple days...indoor water park, cool mall, etc.

That does sound like a very scenic trip, once you got through Texas. Long though, but if you're only doing it once in your life, it seems worthwhile.

When my first family Dr. retired years ago he loaded his several grandsons into a motorhome during summer break and drove them from La. to Alaska and back. Always thought that had to be the ultimate in grandpawing.
