I’ve been working from home since the shutdown- half voluntary, half to help the kids with ‘distance learning’. I thought it was stress of the job (oil & gas although my firm has been fairly steady), then I thought money (wife’s small business income sank to $0, but has since rebounded to a ‘comfortable’ level). It seems like the past 2 weeks or so should have been reassuring for me on an anxiety level, but I have a hard time settling down at night and getting good sleep- I think it’s the break in routine, and having to work at the kitchen table. Is it just me, or am I stir crazy?

Yeah. I used to be asleep by 11 when I was going to the office. It’s midnight to 1am since I’ve been working at home

I’ve been working from home since the beginning of 2019
It’s fine if you have a routine but lately I can’t sleep, I think it’s because I don’t have enough work to keep me busy, I do stuff in the yard but it’s not enough to wear me out like a normal day would have

My sleep schedule is definitely off but it was already headed that way before all of this.

Working from home for me has been a few hours in the morning, then another hour or two in the afternoon. I've gone back to my college routine of sleeping 3-4 hours at night (usually 2-5ish), then taking a couple hour nap at some point during the day.

No idea how healthy it is, but I've always been so much more alert and productive essentially taking a few naps instead of going to sleep for the night.. except there is nothing to do.

Turning into?

That ship sailed long ago.
Ever since I went on shift work I’ve never been the same.
I don’t sleep. Can’t sleep.
I just write. It’s a sickness

I've been up late every night. I used to go to bed at 830ish because i had to be at work at 530am at hospital. I haven't worked in 6 weeks, so I sleep in and stay up till about Midnight. Then a nap in the late afternoon. I have 11 months until first SS check come in.

I've seen the GMT several times before falling asleep.

Yeah you're not the only one.

I have enjoyed taking the dogs for a walk every day with my daughter.

But I have been reverting to a night owl sleep schedule getting the 8 hrs or so in two shifts.

I've made peace with this but definitely looking forward to more structure and a regular workday routine. I think it's healthy to get out and interact with the outside world in person. I've actually made a quick trip to the grocery store every day even if it is for one thing.

Awesome! Yeah we did walks with the kids and dogs for a while, and I just ordered a pair of cheap Bluetooth earbuds- I’m going to start walking in the mornings to help get out some energy- hoping that will help sleep at night.

When all your daily steps come from inside the house...with everyone else in it, it must start to grate on your well being

No just partying. Sounds like some bad weather off to the west. What’s going on?

I barely get any sleep anymore. 0-4 hours/ night max. It's made me a little edgy.

I couldn’t function like that. Thankfully I can usually fall asleep on a dime. For example, I put this phone down after this message. I’ll be out in 1-2 minutes. I don’t even have to try. I feel bad for folks that can’t sleep.

I have a hard time sleeping because I struggle to believe that this is real life sometimes
