Nobody driving from Texas to Mississippi is going to stay on 10 the whole way (save me the NOLA crap). Then when you say "North of I-10" it really applies. Sorrento is north of I-10, what a crock of shite. The old I-10 can now be called 410 or 810.

If I-10 really is I-10 then why do you have to hit the exit lanes to "stay" on 10 westbound from the Mississippi state line?

Rant over

No because it's not I10. It's a bypass for I10.

Yeah, but it’s all about linking population centers.

Fun fact: all East/West running Interstate Highways have an even number, and all North/South running ones have an odd number.

Have a great day!

Better yet, instead of 12 ending at 10 in BR, it should continue and run parallel to Hwy 190 all the way to I49 in Opelousas.

Everybody has a series of maps in their pocket. If they are too ignorant or arrogant to look at them, then maybe they deserve a few bullet holes in their car while on I-10 in N.O. east.

Not at this point, but yeah it probably should've been named the other way around.

It wouldn't be I-12 anymore, it would be I-8

Is I-110 in BR, a North/south section of interstate in Bee Aura, actually odd because it has 2 odd numbers, and one even in the name?

It is clearly north/south, except in front of the Govenor's mansion, which has been crooked since before interstates existed.

While this is mostly true, explain I-110 in BR.

Inner city spurs (start with odd numbers and are three numbers) and loops/bypasses (three numbers that start with even numbers) are different animals.

Spurs and loops don’t follow that rule. They’re numbered off of their parent interstate.

I-12 should have a 3 digit bypass number associated with I-10, like, I-210, I-410, etc.

years ago a guy delivered an aquarium to my sisters house off Acadian. It was 3pm on a friday and I asked him where he was going. He said Navarre, Fl and he was dreading going through NOLA around 4-5 pm...I said why don't you take 12. He had no clue what 12 was. Seems impossible for a trucker/driver to not know

Spur routes don’t count.

Save for a few exceptions, spur routes begin with an odd number followed by the number of the interstate they spur from.

Bypasses begin with an even number, followed by the interstate they connect to. For instance, the 210 bypass in Lake Chuck.

Back in the day when they were planning I-10 and I-12 there was discussion on routing I-10 across the northshore like I-12 is and then numbering the interstate through New Orleans as a 3 digit spur route. But it was decided to route I-10 through New Orleans for the “economic impact” of having one of the a major east-west interstates go through New Orleans.
