I always smile when a newbie picks a "current event" username. If they hang around, in 5 years (if not sooner) they will be begging Chicken for a name change.

I think an I-10N and I-10S kind of like how I-35 is around DWF would have made the most sense.

If I-10 really is I-10 then why do you have to hit the exit lanes to "stay" on 10 westbound from the Mississippi state line?

years ago a guy delivered an aquarium to my sisters house off Acadian. It was 3pm on a friday and I asked him where he was going. He said Navarre, Fl and he was dreading going through NOLA around 4-5 pm...I said why don't you take 12. He had no clue what 12 was. Seems impossible for a trucker/driver to not know

It seems crazy but he’s not alone. Google I-12 and travel message boards pop up with people asking about what’s I-12 and will I-12 save me time if I’m driving through Louisiana. Hard to believe people are that clueless.

If an Interstate had 3 digits and starts with an odd number it leads you into or away from an interstate. 110 leads you away from BR. 510 Leads you away from NOLA. If it starts with an even number it leads you around a city. Like 610 in NOLA or 210 in LC.

Yes, but to go straight you have to be in the "exit" lane.

Fun fact: all East/West running Interstate Highways have an even number, and all North/South running ones have an odd number. Have a great day!

It wasn't that fun when I already knew the fact

Set your cruise at 80 and take both and report back, tell me what feels more natural.

No shite. I would imagine everyone old enough to drive is well aware of this.

You can keep deflecting all you want about the error you made. I really don't care.

One is labeled the exits, and that goes to I12 and I 59. It's not that hard.

Plus consider I-10 was there in 1957. I12 completed in 1967

What they should have done, though, was turned US-190 into I-12 to I-49 north of Opelousas, and put a new bridge or modify the old bridge there at 190. Would have cut a ton of 18-wheeler traffic out that passes through Baton Rouge. And just have a 10 to 12 spur to where it now connects at the 10/12 split

I heard the same story about 12 originally going to be designated as 10. As the story goes, politics were involved with NOLA leaders influenced the decision so interstate traffic had to travel through town…Not shocking.

That's hard to believe since 12 has been around since the mid-60's when I was a kid.

I agree.

New Orleans really is an outer loop suburb of Ponchatoula, anyways.
