What they should have done, though, was turned US-190 into I-12 to I-49 north of Opelousas, and put a new bridge or modify the old bridge there at 190. Would have cut a ton of 18-wheeler traffic out that passes through Baton Rouge. And just have a 10 to 12 spur to where it now connects at the 10/12 split

Only problem with your hindsight is that when 1-12 was designed/built US HWY 190, also known as FL BLVD, was the main strip for BR. Most of the current route of I-12 was not developed then.

I get that, I meant that they should have considered that now as an option to help relieve some of the congestion crossing the Bridge on I-10. I see now it doesn't read that way. At the time it made sense, I don't think anyone at that time saw the explosion of automobile travel coming.

I was surprised to learn that someone wished property damage with the potential of death or serious bodily harm on someone for failing to use a map.

Who did it, baw? I said maybe they deserve it, which is a totally different thing than wishing anything on anybody. I hope you are speaking of someone else because i never gave you permission to change my words to mean something else.

Inner city spurs (start with odd numbers and are three numbers) and loops/bypasses (three numbers that start with even numbers) are different animals.

Correct - like I-110, I-310, I-610, I-220

40 years ago, Dad pulled a camper through NOLA because he stayed on 10 instead of 12. Pre smart phone days.

Fun fact: all East/West running Interstate Highways have an even number, and all North/South running ones have an odd number. Have a great day!

I used to think this, too, until I drove in Memphis. Clearly you have not driven there. 40 and 240 lost me.
