Any of you recall riding the elephants at the Audubon Zoo in the early 80's?

You could ride both elephants and camels. This memory just came back to me last night while watching a nature documentary. My wife called bullshite.

You can now go tell your wife you were RIGHT. Savor the victory while it lasts.

I rode a camel there around 85 or 86. Have a picture of it somewhere.

I'll gladly take the 'W', but a winning percentage of 0.019 is nothing worth bragging about.

They could put the elephants toward the back of the zoo, where the fat people are to tired to walk to.

I do remember riding them at the BR zoo. You used to also be able to feed them peanuts out of a cup.
I actually saved pennys for Buckskin Bill to buy the first elephant in BR.

I do. Didn't they also have a camel you could ride? I know I rode one at a zoo somewhere in either Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

I can't recall it but was assured those pictures were completely destroyed.

What a man does with an elephant is a private matter! Why dredge up the sordid past?

When I read this I had a flash in my head of sitting on a tortoise as a kid. The timing is about right for me.

Hell yeah, and then go roll down monkey hill. Are we still allowed to call it monkey hill?
