Miniature Schnauzer. Smart, good looking, no shedding and good with kids.

My son has a Corgi. Great dog, smart and loyal. I have owned Cane Corsos, boxers and other breeds. Nothing bad to say about them at all.

I'm very late to the game here, but I would high;y recommend a pug. They are loyal as hell and get along great with kids. On the down side, they snore like a chainsaw! We had central air and heat in our home when I was small, and our pug would lie down to sleep on the vent in the floor during the winters. When she snored you could hear it through the entire house!

Yup. I'd definitely recommend a pug!

Look at shitzu or shitzu mixes. No shedding.

As the owner of a shih tzu, I can assure you that they do shed. Not as much as a corgi or a husky, but they do shed.

I had a dachshund growing up. Great, great dog. If you have a good one, you won't need an alarm system for your home.

He died in 2009 and I still miss him.

Nope, get a Yorkie

My boss at my first job in Germany had a Yorkie named Johnny Cash. He'd bring him in to the secure vault where we worked and he'd just haul arse in a big circle around all of our cubes until he got tired then go sleep under my boss' desk. Even put him on the access roster.

Then another LTC came to work in our section and Johnny Cash bit him on the ankle and that was that. Prior to that he had never snapped at anyone, or even growled at them.

Apparently Johnny Cash knew something because that LTC was one of the biggest dickheads I ever worked with in the Army.

just had to put one of my dachshunds down last month. absolutely wonderful girl, had her 12 years. a completely spiteful little shite when she didnt get her way but made her even better. She killed all kinds of critters up until the week she died. Snakes, rats, turtles, even small rabbits. Blood thirsty little dogs that will kill something and proudly bring it right up to you.

I have one now that is around 11. Completely different, calmer personality as she wasn't and isnt the pack leader, but wonderful as well. We are picking up our next one in 6 weeks. Should be born any day

They LOVE attention. My friends knew to acknowledge them first when they came over, as those little shits dont stop barking until they're petted/picked up.

two of my good friends cried when I told them I had to put her down. They're that damn special.

Add Boston Terriers to your list. More athletic than pugs and french bulldogs. They’re like little boxers. They really don’t shed much. I’ve had three. They live to be 13-15 years old with very little health issues. Awesome personalities and great with all ages.

My dachshund was stubborn to potty train, but he's an all around great dog. Used to you couldn't stop from playing fetch with him. He's closing on 14 and is essentially blind now so fetch doesn't happen anymore.

I have a corgi/blue heeler mix. Looks basically like a corgi with floppy ears. Wonderful dog. Has a strong herding instinct, lovable, loves kids and attention and actually listens. Didn't want to pony up the price for a corgi and I probably hit the jackpot.

My wife had Dachshund mix when we first started dating. He died recently, but I loved that little fricker so much. Super affectionate and sweet. He went downhill real fast with a bad back problem and we had to put him down.

If you do get a dachshund don't let them jump up and down from high places like beds and couches. Get one of those little pillow stars if you want them to climb up next to you. No one ever told us that and I think it may have ended up messing up his back over time.

We had a Corgi when I was a kid and she was the sweetest girl - super energetic as a puppy and loving as hell.

I got a pug as an adult and she was amazing. She wound up living with my parents when they fell in love with her, and she was a loyal little cuddle bug until she passed away in the winter. My parents made it three months before they got another pug - she's a puppy and it sounds like she acts like it, but can't fault a puppy for being a puppy.

I always wanted small dogs (also had beagles growing up), but my family and I have a black lab mix rescue and she is the sweetest animal on earth. Absolutely loves other dogs and tiny humans and wouldn't hurt a fly. It really all comes down to the dog and the environment.

Way back when, my ex told me she was getting a Yorkie from her parents for Christmas. I was TOTALLY opposed to it.

I've never been more wrong about anything in my life. One of the best dogs I've ever had.

As for Corgi's this is all I know...

Corgi Twerking...

I'd say that 90% of the small dogs i've encountered, i've wanted to punt through a wall, but that's just me. I prefer my dogs be actual dogs, and not small yapping shits that think they are the king of the world.

We had two corgis but are recently down to one. They are great dogs, wonderful with kids, smart and energetic.

As has been said, they shed a ton. They also have propensities towards health problems similar to dauschunds. The one we had put down recently has back problems from jumping on and off things. She blew a disc I. Her back and lost control of her back legs (and her bowels along with them).

Still, fantastic pups.
